Yes it's a strange argument that any alternative to Couhig would at least have matched his spell, the most successful period in Wycombes history!
Underplaying the Couhig period is very odd, as much as I'm keen to laugh at the bluster and absolute delusion / foolish boasts
However, by the same sentiments, this ownership have overseen us top 3 this season. They're facilitating it, it's not been done In spite of them, however it might feel with the whole Bloomfield saga and seemingly wild scattergun tranfer window.
You could equally say none of what Rob Couhig has been involved in at Reading is relevant to an appraisal of the success or otherwise of his time at Wycombe.
In respect of Reading, it’s a little difficult to get a full picture of what happened but it would appear that his cash saved the club from insolvency, that he negotiated a deal in good faith to acquire the club that was reneged on by the current owner, that Couhig incurred substantial cost in the abortive deal and that the court found in Couhigs favour in respect of this mess. Not sure he has done a lot wrong.
I don't think they ever bought one. They made noises about buying a different L1 club when the Wycombe deal fell through, but I don't think it ever happened.
As far as I am aware (you may have more information), Rob was ready to buy Reading until Yongge reneged on the agreed sale conditions at the last moment. Assuming that is correct, he has every right to take such legal action as he thinks fit against Yongge. The recent Court decision confirmed that this action IS NOT holding up any sale of the club. He has also said he still wants to buy Reading. Reading are in their current situation totally due to one man and his name's not Rob.
The bottom line here is that our club was in a much better position when he left that what it was when he arrived. There can be no dispute whatsoever about that.
It's well worth watching the video interview with RC posted this morning. The way he tells it - and since his position was upheld in court I'm inclined to believe him - RC has done nothing wrong at all in regards to the Reading situation.
In summary - IIRC
RC lent the club money and has a charge over it as security. After Yongge failed to complete the deal to sell to him the solicitors returned his money and sent paperwork for him to sign to relinquish the charge. They then stopped acting as solicitors for Yongge - I wonder why - and vanished the paperwork. As RC said he can't relinquish the charge even if he wanted as DY hasn't made any further communication.
Meanwhile DY only acknowledged he is disqualified as a director on the eve of the recent court appearance when forced to do so. The charge RC has over the club would in effect stop DY from putting it into administration - he if went down that route.
RC confirmed his preferred outcome in all this is still to take control of Reading RC.
How anyone can conclude, therefore, that RC needs a pass for his role in the current Reading situation is beyond me.

If, as I suspect, you drew that cartoon strip yourself young @Shev, I am very impressed. Not just the musical 🎶 talent then.

None of what Rob Couhig achieved at Wycombe earns him a pass for his role in the current Reading situation does it?
I'd love to take credit, but it was just a meme generator where I wrote the captions.
Bloomfield facilitated it. But we’re clinging on by the skin of our teeth.

Which club did the Bergkamp consortium buy instead of us?

Then it's extremely possible that the trust had no other viable buyers.
Why do you think he needs a pass?

That’s exactly what I have been told by someone who works at Reading FC and what can be worked out through the recent court case.
He still wants to buy the club and a judge has clearly said in court he is not holding up any sale of the club.
And that's exactly how I interpreted it after listening to the interview.
