To do that, teams will need to win 3 more games than us. Not easy when they only have 9 games left and we have a game in hand. We would need relegation form to miss out on the play-offs.
Absolutely right. For Bolton in 7th place to overtake us they would have to win their next 3 games and we would have to lose our next 3, but then again the poster you responded to will always find a negative in any scenario.
I’ve just analysed our run in and even with an optimistic hat on I can see Wrexham finishing at least 8 points clear of us, regardless of Charlton. Wrexham have so much more of an easier run in. I think we’ll end up 4th.
It’s a horrible time when you look back to how well much the same group of players were performing earlier in the season but no one should underestimate the impact of the introduction of the parked bus approach by pretty well all our opponents since the turn of the year.
Some on here have referred to the time it took for Matt Bloomfield to turn things round and many thought his retention was because Rob Couhig had faith in his ability to do so. I suggest that a more likely reason might have been that Mr Couhig would have struggled to pay the compensation. Whatever, that is all history now.
Mike Dodds is a very different character with none of the advantages that Matt enjoyed - for example in knowing the club and its culture inside out, having over many years established a great rapport with fans and, towards the end of his time here, displaying a confidence and happiness in his interviews totally justified in the light of his achievements.
Right now I feel like we will make the playoffs, but well out of form at precisely the time that whoever we face is likely to be on an upward trajectory.
The ways I feel we could arrest the slide:
1) Simons gets a run in the side and helps reignite our attack, playing positive forward passes and providing our attacking players with decent service
2) Sadlier comes back in the side to take the heat off the underperforming GMac and Fred (although the latter was a little better yesterday)
3) If we are going to insist on hoofball, or even when we are getting no change out of a solid, negative defensive side, get Vokes involved. Big defenders aside, we are massively lacking in aerial presence and the recent spate of long balls to GMac is driving me nuts.

And just look at them now.

Low and Kone will leave regardless of what division we are in.
We might get a Kone Krismass if we go up but I'm guessing he'll be gone by 2026.

The latest Predictions from Opta:
Finishing points/position
Note that whilst they predict slightly higher points for Wrexham they predict a higher percentage chance of us getting promoted
If we miss out on promotion by three hundredths of a point I’m going full Alan Swann
Wasn't there talk of how Kone wanted to play championship football with us?
So I wouldn't say it's a given. I just hope we have a chance to find out.
He’s not going to say anything else
Blind optimism must feel awful when reality happens.
He could have pushed to move to Luton or any other club In Jan.
Certainly wouldn’t be a pretty sight.
Would you want to move to Luton?
In fairness that's a debate about scraping in at the the bottom of the playoffs.
Which would take a real meltdown to fail to achieve.
But I certainly wouldn't rule it out with the opponents we have.
But then oddly, win Tuesday and 2nd is back on again!
It's a really weird time.
On the wad he'd be on he doesn't have to go there much. Just brave the stadium once a fortnight.
Hopefully he at least gets back on the goal trail if the worst / inevitable happens and the bids come in again.
I’m old enough to remember you and @glasshalffull ridiculing people for suggesting Charlton and Stockport could catch us.

Orient was my one. I don't remember mentioning the other 2, certainly not Charlton.
Although things can change.
I've never been accused of being as ultra positive as Mr GHF
No, and dare I say it but I feel we will miss out on the playoffs as well.

@glasshalfempty was looking out for you in the Vere yesterday. Hope you are well mate
To apologise?
Maybe if we fly to the remaining away games......
Our best hope is another lockdown.
