With the restrictions on who can purchase and when, this is clearly a move aimed at preventing Wrexham fans from buying tickets outside of the away end.
Glad that we haven't made the "gesture" of giving a larger ticket allocation to them TBH.
They already have a restriction that buyers have to have been registered before Jan 1st so rather than effectively making STH's the gatekeepers perhaps a better option might have been to check that buyers have purchased at least one ticket for a previous match in the past as well.
We usually quickly move things off Nathan Evans before people start recallling the mysterious situation with junior Morias, signing a deal and then being bombed out literally days later...and potential links with Evans.
I’ve never understood this expression, new fans always welcome in my book. We all ‘jumped on the band wagon’ at some point, me the Middlesbrough game at Loakes Park. It’s more when folk do or don’t ’jump off the bandwagon’ that counts.
I must confess my jump on the bandwagon game was Dennis Waterman xi at Loakes Park. A charity game, and as far as I can remember there were no Goodies Playing.
I’m not sure how many references the yoof will get in that paragraph.
Absolutely agree with the need to get more "Wycombe" oriented folk attending - I use the tern quite broadly. Which is why the limitation of 6 tickets per person is welcome.
Now let me see if I have 5 friends I can invite ...
This is exactly the kind of game that people who only come once in a blue moon will come to, the target of the 'Where were you when we were shit?' chanting when we get to the Prem*. No issue with people jumping on the bandwagon, but how many of them stay on?
I still remember the Kidderminster home game during the Kelman era towards the end of our Loakes Park years.
We’d been happily playing in front of crowds at around 1000 or so for a while (which was pretty good for non league back in the 80s) and suddenly 4 1/2 thousand turned up.
A decent proportion of those new fans must have stayed and helped propel us into the new ground and then into the football league.
The attitude of some of our fans doesn't exactly help newbies feel welcome sometimes. I remember the last game of the 17/18 season, against Stevenage where the club had attracted nearly 9000 to Adams Park. The fact it was a poor game wasn't a good start in terms of making newbies want to return! I was sat in the Frank Adams stand where a couple of cretins nearby spent most of the match slagging off the fact that a load of new people had dared to show up, to the extent that any in earshot must have decided they wouldn't bother coming back. Their second favourite topic was moaning that the game was getting in the way of their drinking. They had clearly had too many before the game.
Obviously most aren't that bad but comments here (and elsewhere) do tend to show that many of our own fans could help potential new fans feel welcome, instead of treating them with contempt. We all started somewhere, and many of those behaving this way may not have become fans had they been treated the same way at the start.
That would really be annoying for such a massive game to be moved to midweek. Although it could be almost be promotion decider if moved to April I guess.
Comments
ST holder window for a home game seems unprecedented
Indeed!
Got a ticket for my godson next to my ST seat so that’s his birthday sorted

That and it's a prime game for floating Wycombe fans to jump on the bandwagon

Aah, many thanks @Chris. I’d long forgotten about that Samsung thing.
This thread (whatever it is - I’ve even forgotten that) had become a bit creepy.
I lost the thread - not an uncommon occurrence these days!

Okay now you have to elaborate!
The impact of the game not on TV? A few messages and calls ‘hellllllo mate….’
Hope some of them stick

Surely attracting people who don’t go every week is the only way to increase attendance

I didn't - my first game was in the final days of the Sanchez era

*tongue-in-cheek
We definitely need a lot more Johnny come lately coming in steadily.
It's a bit optimistic to just think if we go up we'll suddenly just pull 3,500 new fans in.
We will, certainly if we survive the first season. You're talking about a top 10 league in Europe.
We need to lure people in now while we're near the top of a division.
If it takes the Wrexham circus so be it.
One word: Bournemouth

But then we were brilliant to watch that day…
Keep hoping for something similar
@TheAndyGrahamFanClub ”…one weatherman, eight small parts and a Widow Twanky”
'We're top of the league and no-one is coming...'
'Load of plastic fans will no doubt be getting tickets for Wrexham...'
Make your mind up...
Schrodinger's Wycombe. We're both poor and brilliant at the same time. 1 goal is all it takes to sweep.

I suspect those in drink complaining about new fans turning up were probably fans who barely turn up.
Wycombe is well known as a welcoming, cuddly environment...unless you want hot water in the toilets, decent food and a place to park.
We’ve spent so long wondering why we never get better crowds we never considered the reason might be…us.

Nah - the final is scheduled for April 13th I think.
Ah, I misread the EFL site. Right you are.
