Nice gesture by Beaconsfield Town FC

As most people on here know I'm a big advocate of local football. Tonight's excellent B & B Cup match was great for the host club as they move into the Semi-Finals. Disappointing for WW as we had loads of chances to get back to 3-3 but couldn't convert. A very entertaining game though.

At the match the host club announced a great gesture for WW season-ticket holders. If Wycombe don't have a match or you are unable to get to an away game then turn up at Beaconsfield for a league game & you will be allowed FREE ENTRY on production of your WW season-ticket. FREE football can't be bad!

Great idea. Though I would actually feel obliged to pay just for that gesture alone.

    Sounds like a good club.

  • Nice gesture also for Wycombe to make Alex Hartridge captain for the night. He’s still quite a young lad - younger than my grandson - and made the brave decision last summer to uproot from Devon to experience different surroundings.

  • A few non-league clubs have tried this marketing technique. Aim of course is to get a few people to try what is actually often a decent product in the hope that a few will realise they prefer the convenience and price of going regularly to in this case Beaconsfield and give up on the high cost and hassle of getting to league grounds. Not sure in truth its a "nice gesture" rather than sensible marketing but worth a try for Beaconsfield.

  • Will they let us in for free when Wycombe are at home as well?

  • I’d be surprised as if it’s based on you having a season ticket, then why would you be there. Although that’s not to say it may be a better option for some games

  • Positive gesture, marketing initiative and potentially puts a bit more money behind the bar. Smart move all round.
