Just back to the days when someone valued leaves they are celebrated on the official website please. (Unless it’s the week for cleaning the office of course.)
It's a hard spin for the club to do the big tribute to Matt when he left against our wishes/desires/preferences at a time that is undoubtedly going to have a negative impact on our hopes of promotion. As others have pointed out it was only a couple of years ago we did the big tribute as he left for Col U. Do we do a highlights reel of the time since he became manager or re-run the whole career.
I don't think he has tarnished his legacy with us one jot and he remains one of THE legends of our club in the professional era. Maybe a more subtle tribute would be good but it is clear both parties didn't feel the parting was ideal.
If the ownership group are any good, they will be able to build on the great position MB left us in surely. Anything less than promotion from second would suggest the data led approach was flawed. 😉
(Quick get me the stats on the percentage of players who will have the bumhole about Bloomfield leaving now!!!)
I’m sorry. I’ve stated before I’m not blessed as being in the know. I simply read ‘The Club is naturally disappointed with Matt’s decision to leave in the middle of the season’
I don't think there is clear evidence either way, but the tone of the statements put out suggests Matt feels loved by the hierarchy at Luton (but maybe not anymore at Wycombe) is really fired up to be involved in recruitment at Luton (but has been moved more remote at Wycombe) has been offered a longer contract at Luton and on almost certainly a much bigger salary (meanwhile, it appears WWFC made no attempt to get him to sign a new contract, despite him having been interviewed for two other positions).
I don't see why it's so outrageous that a club might not want someone (as has been claimed by our resident ITKs) who perhaps doesn't align with their approach. At the end of the day, the previous ownership handed over to a billionaire - they're going to want to do things their own way. 'But it's Matt Bloomfield' doesn't really cut it.
1 It’s not the Wycombe way. And, fair enough, the new ownership might want to change that culture. But that culture is part of what makes us special and losing it makes at least some of us sad.
2 Bloomfield has been remarkably successful this year and based on that data the new ownership should be fighting to keep a promising young manager.
3 Even if they do want a different option, they could at least be pleasant about it and say something nice.
"The Club is naturally disappointed with Matt’s decision to leave in the middle of the season. However, we respect his decision to pursue this new chapter in his career. He leaves with the gratitude and best wishes of everyone at Wycombe Wanderers, and we thank him for his service to the club."
Also, my reading of the situation is that MB and DR were on very different pages with regards to recruitment and that ultimately created an impasse. If that was the case, it's not about 'fighting to keep hold of' the manager.
“Ainsworth enjoyed a record-breaking, history-making decade in charge of the Chairboys, and moves to Loftus Road along with assistant manager Richard Dobson and analyst Josh Hart, bringing to an end his near 14-year association with the Blues after arriving initially as a player on loan from the Loftus Road outfit.
Ainsworth, widely renowned as the Wanderers’ greatest ever manager, became captain of Gary Waddock’s Wanderers before taking up a player-coach role and then becoming Waddock’s successor as manager in September 2012, going on to steer the club to safety from relegation in his first two seasons in charge before embarking on two promotion-winning campaigns, three trips to Wembley Stadium and a succession of cup adventures to achieve legend status at Wycombe Wanderers.
His finest hour came under the arch at Wembley in July 2020, guiding the club to the Championship for the first time in its history, and he leaves having just achieved the Blues’ best ever winning run in the third tier, collecting victories in nine of their last 12 matches.
Dobson has served as assistant manager throughout Ainsworth’s tenure at Adams Park, arriving initially to head up the club’s youth department in 2007 before stepping up to first-team duties in 2011. As a management team, they oversaw 550 matches in all competitions.
Comment from chairman Rob Couhig, plus Gareth Ainsworth and Matt Bloomfield, will follow throughout the week.”

He got celebrated when he left the first time - he's not going to get that again, especially if it was an acrimonious exit.

HE DIDN'T LEAVE AGAINST THEIR WISHES!!!!!!!
goodness me

Evidence?

@eric_plant do the research!!!
I'd be a lot more convinced by 'The Club are disappointed Matt turned down the massive contract extension we offered as an inducement to stay'.
If Dan Rice told you he had won the lottery but needed you to pay a facilitation fee in order to access the funds…

I know what my view if the situation is.
And even that statement at face value implies they wouldn’t have been bothered if he had left during the summer.

The official website is very quiet.
It's almost like nothing much is going on.
Glad the Gasroom is buzzing.
Either way, I am looking forward to Bloomfield's tell-all autobiography after he retires as England manager.
'From Dan to Declan: How One Man's Journey To England World Cup Glory Was Affected By Rice'
Westergaard announcement tomorrow to kick everyone back into gear.
Very good 👍👍

I don’t think it’s that hard to understand?
"The dominant lads on the gasroom were spot on saying i was pushed out"
What's wrong with what they said?
"The Club is naturally disappointed with Matt’s decision to leave in the middle of the season. However, we respect his decision to pursue this new chapter in his career. He leaves with the gratitude and best wishes of everyone at Wycombe Wanderers, and we thank him for his service to the club."
Your meltdown-o-meter seems remarkably untouched so far.

Expect that to change if we go for Dean Holden
New manager has been arranged for months remember, just be patient.
