Bolton Wanderers - Friday 20th
As we approach Fridays game we have concerns with Harvie, Morley and Scowen all out.
Our fellow Wanderers have what seems to be a bigger problem with both centre backs suspended after hitting five yellows and Forino permanently injured, plus a host of other players injured and two key players on four yellows.
Even have Bolton fans betting on their team to lose 5-0 if you believe the comments.

Let’s keep the pressure up on the chasing pack with a good win, clean sheet and no further injuries.

I think there is every chance Scowen will return on Friday.
Amazing negativity in those comments for a side only just outside the play-offs
The Bolton fans feel Evatt has taken the club massively backward this season and they don't seem to like his arrogance or the fact he never takes the responsibility for his own actions.
Some are even starting to question Sharon's running of the club.
Let's hope the huge negativity around the club at present paves the way for another win.
The venom and vitriol towards Ian Evatt is something to behold.
Oh and Ian Evatt isn’t going anywhere

Kiss of death that statement if we win big tomorrow.
The infamous chairman’s vote of confidence. That’s never gone badly for managers now has it!
Not sure what's happening tomorrow, but maybe we want to "just" win against Bolton, in case a big win gets him sacked.
Got to make sure Evatt is still there by January!
Blooms will be well aware of the negativity surrounding Evatt at the moment. Evatt himself is throwing his toys out of the pram.
I think and hope Bloomfield will go with a very attacking side - try to capitalise on a Friday night high attendance party atmosphere and threaten their weak defence which is suffering from suspensions and injuries.
I think he’ll go with:
Rav
Patto Low Taylor Leahy
Bakinson Humph
Mccleary Udoh Fred
Kone
Humphreys deeper in a Potts sort of role to support build up next to a much more physical Bakinson who can break up the play. I don’t see a league start for Butcher, despite Leahy’s move to left back. Humphreys also means we get a left footer in build up play which has helped us when Leahy has played there in recent weeks.
I think we might see Wheeler start as perhaps the most similar player to Morley in the squad. Think he'll join Humphrys and Bakinson in the middle with Leahy left back.
I'm a fan of Wheeler and his versatility, but see very little similarities between his playing style and Morley's?
With Santos and Johnstone suspended for Bolton I believe that they only have one fit CB available. The keeper has come in for some criticism recently as well.
Therefore I’d be tempted to play Hartridge at left back and use his long throw to launch the ball under their crossbar at every opportunity.
Very different players. When was the last time we saw Wheeler playing centre mid, spraying defence splitting passes to our wealth of attacking players? Come to that, when was the last time we saw Morley heading the ball, something which is absolutely intrinsic to Wheeler’s game.
Partly the issue is we don't actually have anyone close to the style of Morley. But Wheeler has occasionally been used as a 10 in the past, threading through clever balls to the striker, often defence splitting balls on the deck. He's clearly an intelligent player who plays with foresight. He's lost some pace so probably suits the centre of the park better than the wings. He's also willing to put in a tackle and good with his head so could make a decent deep-lying central playmaker, at least in my head.
Here are the current Bolton Centre Backs.
Santos - Suspended - Started all 18 League Games
Johnston - Suspended - Started 16 League Games
Forino - Injured - Started 2 League Games and Injured For 3 Months
Toal - Injured - Started 10 League Games and injured for 6 weeks
Forrester - Available - Can play anywhere across the back four but only started one game this season in the league and only started 10 games in two seasons.
If Evatt goes with his normal three centre backs I suspect it will be.
Jones (Right Back)
Forrester (Centre Back)
Dacres-Cogley (Left or Right Wing back)
I saw David Wheeler recently during a rare substitute appearance. Out wide right as usual. The one thing he certainly hadn’t lost was pace. He rarely goes on runs with the ball (dribbles, as they used to be called) but on this particular occasion he cut inside for about 25 yards at a pace which surprised me.
Wheels does a good job wherever he plays (it's one of the reasons i can't see him leaving in January) but like @Midlander i expect Scowen to be back on Friday.
Like the new nicknames of Patto and Humph
GO ON HUMPH!!
Could be a good way to describe a Cameron-inspired win.
"Why do Bolton fans look so miserable?"
"Oh, they've got the Humph."
For me, we should be playing as follows:
Rav
Grimmer/Pattenden Low Taylor Hartridge
Bakinson
Fred Humphreys Leahy McCleary/Udoh
Kone
I could definitely live with that!
Interesting choice of referee for this one
Makes a change from appearing on the old Xmas films 🤦🤦
But Only Murders in the Building is very good, I must say
Is he a wild and crazy guy?
Could mean there will be plenty of goal given they are Cheaper by the Dozen, although I expect him to be The Jerk. So long as it doesn't turn into a (Little Shop of) Horrors Show.
He’s a Jerk.
All of Me really believes that The Man With Two Brains who accepts Pennies From Heaven is truly a Dirty Rotten Scoundrel
Jazzy P?
Just about sums it up blue, we’re certainly struggling and it might be even worse if Tutu our other RWB is also injured which seems likely as Cogley will have to play there instead which probably means bringing Inwood one of our young players into Central defence. Evatt could of course just go four at the back instead as we’ve all been saying he should but being so stubborn I don’t expect him to change formation.
Actually as Vincey suggested earlier you might get some joy from long throws into the box because whilst Baxter is a good shot stopper he isn’t the best with high balls. He’s also very slow playing out and subject to mistakes which is why many of us would prefer Southwood but knowing Evatt he’ll stick with his own favourites. With so little to choose from in midfield as well I’d say there couldn’t be a better time for you to play us and with the current unrest in the camp I’d say if you don’t take advantage on Friday you’ve missed a trick. All that said it would be just like us to turn up for once and surprise everybody which we’re certainly capable of. 😉
