    Says his goodbyes on Youtube

  • Shame. But probably inevitable.

  • Oh wow, we knew he was 3rd choice and struggling to get on the pitch, but that feels a slight shock of how he goes?

Frees him up, maybe 2 week earlier than he could have just moved anyway?!

Someone on fb was adamant Ainsworth has said he won't get in contact with "current" Wanderers players, so maybe this is a way round that!

  • His opportunities were limited so it makes sense but he gave us some great games and said some really nice things about the club so I wish him well.

  • Amazing that his 4 spells span almost a decade! Surely on January 1st we’re going to announce him as a new signing and give him a testimonial.

In all seriousness, he has been such an important part of our recent history, on and off the pitch. It’s the right move for all involved and I hope he ends up somewhere where he can get plenty of minutes and add value.

  • Definitely deserves to be remembered for the player that was a beast up and down the right flank, a real game changer in this division and good enough to be bought by a championship club.

  • Sad to see him go in some ways, but it feels like the right decision all round.

A great player for us and I suspect that given game time, he's still a very good player.

I wish him all the best for the future. Will be interesting to see if he does turn up at Shrewsbury. Given a few games to settle in, I think he could be a good signing for them.

  • Would love to see him rock up at Shrewsbury, rediscover his old fire and help them avoid the drop.

  • I think that's a classy interview from a top bloke and great player.

Thank you for all your efforts over the years mate.

I think maybe it was nicer for him, as a great servant to the club to be able to call time on it himself.... rather than the inevitable letting him go by the club in January.

I guess it's the club being respectful and gracious to him doing it this way.

  • A really emotional, tender interview. Jason's a great guy, a proper Wycombe player, and he deserves to be remembered fondly.

    A sad, if inevitable, day

  • What a class act

Cheers for everything Jase. A great player, but more importantly a great bloke.

All the best for your next move

  • What a great guy. All the best for the future Jason.

  • Fantastic servant and provided some memorable highlights in his Wycombe career. Wish him all the best in future. He’s surely still a decent lower L1/L2 player for the right club.

  • Tough one to take, to be fair. Knew it was coming, yet still shed a tear. “Outstanding professional. Role model”…. You don’t get these accolades for free.

What a classy guy, but completely in keeping with today’s WWFC, which he has helped to mould in his time with us.

I really hope he does well wherever he goes, and if he ever plays against us, it would be nice to do the ‘awarding of the shirt’ like they’ve done with other returning heroes.

  • Wonderful words from Jason. A great servant for the club and a great role model. Let’s hope our future signings exhibit the qualities evident in abundance in that interview. Good luck Jason and thanks for the memories.

  • You forget how young he was when we got him the first time, he’s really grown up here. It’s always a special thing when the club we support seems to mean as much to a player. I’ll miss him.

  • As much as it was the right decision actually quite upset to see him go , seems like he knows the time is right and let’s hope his remaining career is successful top guy .

  • What a top bloke ! Thanks for everything Jason

That interview just shows the perfect combination of classy player leaving a classy club. Just mutual love and appreciation all around.

All the best, Jason - hopefully you finish getting your licenses, but that in the meantime you also get to be a starter again for a lucky club somewhere.

  • Thanks you JMac, it's been a privilege to be your team for nearly a decade. I'm sure our paths will cross sometimes in the future.

  • The right decision for both parties, he was never breaking in past Grimmer & Pattenden.

A classy exit interview, wish him all the best in his efforts to haul Shrewsbury to safety.

Made some big contributions for us over the years. I don't think you could overstate the importance of that free kick v Walsall in the season we stayed up, it was touch and go prior to that game. Plenty more too. Gave his all but we have just moved on to that next level - like he did years ago when he moved on upwards himself.

  • By the way, that squad photo really shows the togetherness and a big reason why we are where we are right now.

  • Lovely interview.

  • Did well for us. Hope he has good luck wherever he goes. Could do a job for the Shrews. A general?

  • A fine human, it’s a great guy who knows when to bow out. All the best for the future

  • Professional to the last. A great guy and a great player. He earned his moves to Barnsley and to Millwall, and he was one of our top performers in the Championship.

  • And I’d be surprised if his next club is anywhere other than Shrewsbury

  • A class act. He has always given his all and never let us down. Any club would be lucky to have him and after seeing the Shrewsbury defence he is more than capable of slotting in there.

And it is great to see he is getting to leave out the front door with interviews and great squad photos. So often players are gone and a quick tweet of thanks sums up their time in 280 characters.

  • think the phrase is "hats off"

Happy trails sir, and thanks for all you've done for the club.

  • Some players leave clubs under a cloud and aren’t welcomed back by the fans. Not Jason. He leaves us in the classy, dignified way one would expect of an exceptional human being and a very good footballer.
