Franco's distribution under pressure when we're playing out from the back is pretty good? Maybe Bloomfield feels the others just don't fit the system even if they do better on crosses etc.
That’s a fantastic gesture to away supporters. Especially as we are always on a Tuesday night away to Exeter. Fair play to anyone that travelled. Excellent effort.
Lovely gesture. I remember Accrington doing something similar a few years where we all got a free burger (and I think we reciprocated when they visited on a Tuesday night). I'd convinced my Man United supporting cousin to come with me and he was absolutely delighted - he said it was better than Alex Samuel's last minute winner but I did not agree with that
I said this to my brother on the terrace at the time. Their pressing of our wingers was excellent, and Gmac/Fred each barely had a consequential touch
I was also extremely impressed by their centre back Crama, who was very solid at the back and regularly excellent at bringing the ball out from the back
It's frightening how quickly some fans reset their expectations and almost develop a kind of entitlement.
Not saying anyone needs the usual we once lost to the met police or dog and cock rovers reminders, but literally a few years ago staying up in this tier felt a big step.
We all know there by the law of averages will be a few Trevor games between now and April but some of the football and performances so far this season have been excellent to watch. We may have to depend on others frustrating our main rivals at points as the season goes on, but we deserve everything we have achieved so far.
Great post! Of course we all want to go up, but this season has been so entertaining, so full of quality and brilliance, that it should live fondly in the memory no matter where we finish.
I have pointed out that relegation form of a point-per-game from here on out would still get us to 68 points and the fringes of the playoffs.
Well, a goal-per-game - also relegation form - would still take us to 67 goals, which would be our second best total in L1 ever, behind only the 75 from 21/22.
we have 29 games left. If we win 10 draw 10 and lose 9 we’d finish on 79 points. I’m absolutely certain we’ll win more than 10 of our remaining 29 games and lose less than 9.
I’m expecting to lose my bet that we’d go up via the playoffs as we will finish top 2. Despite not winning every game, even losing a few.
Being uncharacteristically pessimistic for one second, we could outperform that 10 10 9 by say 2 more wins than draws and 2 more wins than losses, for a highly respectable 14 8 7, ending on a record-breaking 89 points, and still be behind both Birmingham and Hollywood even if they only managed 90 points each (less than 2.0 PPG). Then we get picked off in the play-offs by, say, Huddersfield who, like Sunderland that year, only get into top gear in April and May.
Play-Offs are such a lottery, it goes without saying auto's would be preferred. If two teams overtake us and go well ahead of us, then I think we might be ok in play offs. If we get pipped last game of the season, I'd be less confident of play off success.
Only time will tell but we are in an incredible position. I'd be interested to compare points for top 4 clubs at Xmas over last 5 or 6 seasons is for League One. I get the feeling that it might be an all time high this season but I could be completely wrong!
Has Blooms been awarded his 2nd successive MotM award yet? They can’t seriously consider anyone else, with his 100% record in all comps, but not heard anything about it yet…
I have felt for several months that they are going to be well up amongst our toughest opponents this season. Obviously that feeling derives partly from the memory of those crushing defeats, two at least on TV, in the not too distant past. But their recent results - see table below - have greater relevance.

Surely being 2 down and salvaging a draw at a ground we usually lose at, is exactly what champions would do?
Could easily have pinched a win too.

Even i'm not doing that this season son!
Fingers crossed Stockport can turn Birmingham over tonight.
Louie Barry is a Villa player, so it would be especially funny
Oh yes...I forgot that. Added spice. 😉
It will be interesting to see if Matt can get one over his mentor, but I'm hoping Gaz and Dobbo inspire their Shrews to a lot of shock victories.

In other words, we are special!

Your reference to Huddersfield is interesting.
