Folks, it looks like we have pretty much reached the best position we can. Pretty clear we are not going to reach my target of sub 1000 miles but we are right on the very edge of dipping below the 2000 mile barrier - just 25 miles saving needed.
I'll wrap this up at around 5pm today. Any last fractional savings might just make the difference to dipping below 2000.
So final standings here. We just failed to break the 2000 mile barrier.
We have a Chairboy living within five miles of 30% of the 92 clubs and within a dozen miles of half the clubs.
Unsurprisingly perhaps we covered London and the South East pretty extensively.
Wales in total and the North above Manchester and Leeds were pretty much Chairboy free zones as perhaps more surprisingly were largely the South Coast, Bristol and parts of East Anglia.
Our overall total was 2024 miles, well above the target I set for this of sub 1000. I think I underestimated the more remote outposts of the league.
I have to say, I enjoyed this. Hope you did too. Particularly enjoyed the input of new or rare posters (less than 150 posts)
It would be great if some or all became active posters on the forum. In particular you may be interested in joining one of the two competitions we run on score and attendance predictions. You would be very welcome on either/both.
And so very soon now, another interminable international break will be over and the footie starts up again. Must check the league table to remind myself who is top of the league.....
Nothing against the A13 but I'm an A127 man myself, better known as "the Arterial". Strong childhood memories from catching the bus near Kings Cross, down the concrete road to see my grandparents in Basildon.

I’m 20.4 miles from the dons and 17 from the home of football
Wycombe 3miles
Watford 14miles
Reading 18miles
Brentford 21miles
Poxford 22miles
QPR 23 miles
Fulham 24 miles
Chelsea 25miles
Luton's in there on 22 miles as well
It's 32 miles between Adams Park and Luton's ground, so something doesn't add up @crabbie, unless you know some very direct routes?
Note we aren't looking for straight line distances.
Top man. I gladly give them to you.
Feels like we are getting towards the final outcome now. Time for a final push if there are any more closer options out there.
Still just over the 2000 mile overall mark.
I have sorted info below both in terms of biggest to smallest and on my (rather eccentric) geographical sorting
Any improvements however slight would be appreciated.
If this was a year and a half ago I could have given the following:
Sunderland - 15 miles
Newcastle - 18 miles
Middlesbrough - 27 miles
I should have had this thread in mind before moving south!
Shameful behaviour…..
I can't help on any of these, but are we really saying that no one on the Gasroom lives within 2 miles of Adams Park?!
Used to, but that was a while ago,
Quite remarkable that FromeBlue is closest to both Bournemouth and Swansea.
Maybe the Worldwide Wycombe Wanderers Phenomenon doesn't quite have the reach?!
I also find it unlikely that I’m closest to both (either?) Wrexham and Carlisle
According to Google Maps I am 101 miles from Swansea City stadium

According to your posted data you're 22 miles from Kenilworth Road and 3 miles from Adams Park.
They are 23.6 miles apart in a straight, so like I said you must know some very direct routes. 🤷♂️
Interwebs is bollox isn't it
From my home in Shoeburyness, Essex
Southend United 4 miles
Leyton Orient 39 miles
West Ham United 42 miles
Colchester United 46 miles
For the record;
Wycombe Wanderers 86 miles
@Lloyd2084 does. So did I from 1974 to 1985. Should have stayed put.
On second thoughts, glad we didn’t.

Let me know when you're coming and I'll treat you to a pint at the Angel Inn.
