That third save was world class. The Wigan player was on the turn celebrating his goal and moments later holding his head in his hands at the brilliance of the save.
Delighted for him, he’s had a long time to wait to make a real mark in the game.
Yeah you don’t see many performances like that from a goalkeeper at League 1 level. The improvement in his performances this season compared to last season is excellent. He’s had a few wobbles, such as the Poku ball across the face of goal against Peterborough, but I’ve generally been impressed with Rav in the majority of games. If Allsop is starting for Birmingham City then I have to taper my expectations. I wasn’t impressed by Bishop in pre-season either. And it’s hard work living up to Stockdale and Stryjek - I thought both were excellent. There’s a lot to be observed in the reaction of our team mates at the final whistle. They love Rav. I’ve commented a few times about how Grimmer had given a lot of stick to Stryjek for his lacklustre communication. It looks like the entire back line get on well with Rav and that confidence is important. Looking forward to seeing what else Rav can conjure up this season.
Great post, though to be fair to Bishop, he played in the early days with Hartridge where we were struggling to gel. I think he would have played himself into form too given time.
