All but one First Round ties take place tomorrow, with Langley on Wednesday. All kick off at 7:45.
This season, rather than setting a date when games had to be played by, the B & B FA have set a single game day. That stops a round lasting weeks, and probably stops arguments between clubs when choosing dates.
This is the first county cup game for the reformed Windsor & Eton, the switch to Wokingham only announced this morning. The malfunctioning floodlights might have something to do with that.
I was back at Winslow to see an uneventful first half against Keith Scott's Holmer Green, with the home team on top but neither keeper troubled. Within 16 minutes of the restart, Winslow were four up and looking like scoring with every attack. Holmer did have one shot on target but the Ploughmen were looking like the higher ranked club now, and rounded off the night with a fifth, right on the final whistle. About 70 watching.
It was good to see Scotty in the dugout. He was very vocal with instructions, praise and criticism for his team, who kept going until the end. I hope he does well there.
I think the club have been in dispute with the Hants FA over an ineligible player, leading to their disqualification. They are only entering to avoid a fine, but don't really want to win a game.
As far as I can see, none of the 17 players in Langley's squad last night had played in the first team this season. It looks like their youth team. Sam Saunders is still playing for Langley, three appearances so far this season, including their 2-0 defeat at Windsor last Friday.
Last season there were four rounds, then the quarter-finals, when we would have joined. This season there are three rounds, then the quarters, when I assume we will enter. I would love us to join in the Third Round and get an extra game in against a lower ranked team! For me, Winslow is the ultimate draw, but any team we haven't played ever, or for while, would be good. Amersham away would be interesting.
Do you reckon Amersham might try and get the game played at Chesham if they drew Wycombe, MK or Reading in the County Cup? I don't know what their max capacity is at Amersham but I'm not sure it could hold more than 500 people there. There isn't enough room or facilities

Do we know if we're entering this season?
We have entered, according to https://www.berks-bucksfa.com/cups-and-competitions/cups/2024-2025/senior-cup/fixtures
Great news. That night at Thame against Long Crendon was a very fun evening, bring on more of them

The managers days are numbered!

That explains it.
Last night, Langley 1-11 Berks County (HT 0-6)
That completes the First Round matches.
With this scoreline and Farceboro, it’s great to see the county cups being taken seriously….

Second Round Draw.
Hoping for MK Irish or Milton United away for Wycombe in the next round, not been to either for ages.

Imagine if we get Amersham away... and Jake Tabor gets a couple of goals !!
