Suffolk all out for 297 off 84.4 overs.
Alex Oxley 92, George Rhodes 87, Conner Haddow 4-90.
Bucks have 22 overs to bat today.
Close, Bucks 36-3.
Not that close. (sorry!) And appalling run rate, assuming they were able to play the full 22 overs.
Ah, the joys of the English language @micra, words with two meanings depending on pronunciation. Well spotted!
Play ended after 21.3 overs, when the third wicket fell. I'm not clear why the over was not completed, had to leave before the end to get home for the footy. Bucks batters struggled against the quick Suffolk openers.
Bucks all out for 137 from 60.4 overs.
Alexei Kervezee 60, Vansh Jani 42, Tom Harper 4-27.
The morning started well for Bucks, with a bright and breezy 49 partnership between Jani and Kervezee. A collapse then followed and Bucks finished 11 runs short of the follow on total, but Suffolk did not enforce it, and hold a 160 run lead. Some time has been lost to rain today,so play goes onto 7:30 today.
Looks too dark to play if Widmer End currently is anything to go by. Extremely gloomy.
Yes, play stopped at Tring at 6:05pm, raining now and has just been called off for the day. Suffolk 136-3, 296 ahead. Starts at 10:30 tomorrow.
Suffolk 227-7 declared, off 48 overs.
Darren Ironside 88, Conner Haddow 4-70 off 20 overs.
Bucks need 388 to win, off a minimum of 87 overs.
The start was delayed by 30 minutes after water got under the covers on the bowler's run-up.
So Bucks will have to double their first innings scoring rate. Doesn’t look too doable.
Lunch, Bucks 73-0 off 18 overs.
Cameron Hemp 50 n.o., Michael Wells 23 n.o.
Match drawn.
Cameron Hemp managed to hit his maiden Bucks hundred, 103 n.o. off 109 balls. A torrential downpour earlier shortened playing time, making a draw the most likely result.

So Bucks were well on track, had it been possible to play the full 87 overs. Great recovery.
Before the rain, a win for either side was on, more likely for Suffolk given how Bucks collapsed in the first innings. Good to see a spirited response by Bucks. They haven't really looked like the champions they are so far, and are missing key players who helped make last season a success. A week ago at Lincs, Bucks had a first innings deficit of 149, and we're then 3-3 in the second innings, but recovered well to draw.
In the other game today, Lincs drew at Beds, which means that the opening four matches in this division have been drawn. Anyone can win this, anyone can be relegated. Bucks have not been getting enough batting bonus points, just the one so far due to poor first innings scores.
Thanks for the update @Steve_Peart …very useful for the summer close season , traditional time for cricket.
A question, why have Bucks only played two matches? The first class counties have played eight matches already in the county championship…plus 90% of The Blast.
Ainsworth for England
@Forest_Blue, the National Counties play four matches in each of the three formats, Three Day Championship, Trophy (50 overs) and T20.
The winners of the two top Championship Eastern and Western divisions play a four day final.
The winners of the white ball groups go into the knock-out stage. Bucks have completed their white ball matches and failed to progress.
Until 2019, the three day Championship comprised six matches per county.
You can see all match details for this season on https://ncca.play-cricket.com. Bucks are in Eastern Div 1 for red ball, Group 3 for white ball.
Bucks remaining Championship matches are:
Sun-Tue 11-13 August, away to Beds at Flitwick CC.
Sun-Tue 18-20 August, home to Staffs at High Wycombe CC.
Bucks are also playing a 50 over showcase match this Monday 22 July against Leicestershire, at the County Ground, Grace Road, Leicester. I plan to go to that.
I believe (having played cricket with an Oxfordshire coach for a number of years) that one of the reasons the three day games are later in the year is that a number of the players across the country are teachers (often PE teachers) and so putting it in the school holidays helps with availability, as obviously they would have to take leave to play in those games otherwise.
I see Gareth as a quick bowler and big hitting tailender, constantly encouraging his teammates in the
rfield.Great motivator.
I could imagine him as a wicketkeeper
I see MB as a wicketkeeper, or a punchy middle order batter.
Seems a bit too normal / bland to be a keeper
I reckon JJ would've been a wily left arm spinner who could easily bowl all day from 1 end. Sam Vokes definitely a number 6/7 who hits a long ball with a great eye and deals exclusively in boundaries. Can't see a fast bowler in the squad though!
Joe Low maybe?
An article from 2019, about the Minor Counties name change, and reasoning behind reducing the red ball games to four. There is also a section at the bottom on cup upsets against first class counties.
