Bucks v Berks (50 over match) at Chesham this Sunday

This coming Sunday (June 23rd) Bucks meet Berkshire in the National Counties 50 over cricket competition at Chesham Cricket Club, Amy Lane, Chesham.

The match starts at 11am & is 50 overs per side (bowlers can bowl a maximum of 10 overs). A 30 minute lunch interval takes place between innings. Admission is free but programmes will be available @ £2 each & a raffle will also take place.

A bar will be open and also hot & cold food, together with tea, coffee & (hopefully) ice cream. Chesham Cricket Club is a lovely venue to watch cricket so if you fancy a break from Euro 2024 for the day a good match is in prospect between these 2 great rivals.

Comments

  • In a thrilling match at Chesham Cricket Club Bucks defeated Berkshire by 4 runs with 1 ball to spare.

On a beautiful day Berkshire won the toss & elected to field. The Bucks openers, AJ Woodland & Cameron Hemp (both High Wycombe) set about the Berkshire bowlers, hitting the ball to all parts of the ground. However, when Hemp was caught on the boundary the fast start slowed down. Sensible batting by Kervezee (60) held the innings together & Bucks ended up on 253 all out with 7 balls left in their 50 overs.

Berkshire started their innings in very confident style & were well up with the run rate. However, a steady loss of wickets left them needing 6 from the last over with 2 wickets in hand. Tom Hampton (who took 6 wickets) took the last 2 Berkshire wickets & Bucks had won by 4 runs.

A brilliant day’s entertainment for a very good crowd at the Meadow. Bucks don’t qualify for the later stages but it was great to end the 50 over campaign with a win over their big local rivals.
