Saka looking the best attacking threat. Bellingham is always good and obviously has a goal, but I would still prefer him at the 8 with Foden the 10 and Eze left. Foden has been anonymous out there and we don't look very creative, goal aside.
Still very early, they haven't played together much, I like a lot of the early play even though it got a bit stale, lots of options but they need to find the right pass . Trent offers far more than Henderson would have done in previous years, they are at least looking for options not just passing back to the goalie. Think Kane will click at some point but Watkins could do really well if the final ball is better.
I support Southgate, but please don’t tell me that a team with this much creativity is going to settle on a one goal lead against Serbia with 25 minutes left.
Strikers are often instructed to play in the narrow band between the goals, which will often result in them being in the right place for a tap in (which is Kane's job).
If Serbia were focused on something other than kicking any England player that came near them we might have been in trouble. But one point from the next two games sees us thru, and that’s the aim.
Great first half from Saka, Bowen coped excellently with the increasingly physical game when he came on. Still don’t see Foden as a left wing, don’t understand why Eze or Gordon couldn’t have stretched Serbia on that side of the pitch. Rice did a very good impression of a holding midfielder despite what Valencia’s Gary Neville or E.Plantain says on the subject

Hope Kane gets a cute injury.
We got a ‘cute,’ from Ian Darke in the third minute.
do a shot @floyd
Declan Rice playing defensive midfield while commentators remark on what a great defensive midfielder he is.
Cute post

Agree with all of this but I’d also have literally anyone else up front than Kane. Total waste of a place.
Where did they find this ref?
Starting to detect a theme with your striker comments
That liked like a pen
I swear England could find citizenship for Messi, Mbappe and Vicinius Jr and still serve up this turgid fare.
Come on chief, me slagging off Kane is a tournament tradition. It makes other people feel good if he accidentally scores.

Haha fair enough. I must admit I sometimes have a slight feeling he's immobile and a bit pony, but then I check his goal record.
Be fair, Serbia are probably the best country in the world (that begins with an S and has 6 letters)
Might be a long month
First half every thing was fine we had the majority of the game.
We are playing like we begin with an S too.
But at least that's some sort of hit.
England will get a 2nd to make everyone forget what came before. It's the script.
If only we had a player in the squad who made his professional debut with Wycombe, is in roasting hot form and could replace the ineffective Foden.
Alas.
He’s reverted to playing deep this half. There’s no outlet up front when we’re under pressure - ie most of the time.
That was close!
Everyone deletes their posts about Kane scoring to the doc...
Between Saka and Bowen we are going to be fine on the right, anyway.
That narrow band between the goals is huge. Roughly the length of a football pitch.
Well, we got the win.
