Self congratulations apart. I am excited and scared by this announcement.
In the recent Q&A I had a couple of (typically wordy) questions asked. One of them was around who Rob sells the club onto and to make sure we don’t see ourselves in the position Reading found themselves in with an owner that gets bored as I would want my kids (9 & 7) to still have a club to support when they are the wrong side of 40.
I seem to recall I was reasonably happy with his answer at the time. I hope he has sold us onto good, responsible hands and I look forward to open and honest conversations with the new owners as we had with the last. Even if at times I didn’t agree with them.
i don’t expect a raft of expensive signings - profit and sustainability rules don’t allow that. But I do expect off the pitch, infrastructure announcements to come in due course.
That might even mean a new stadium (although, it’s much more likely to be current one to be developed on the basis of a new road going in)
We don't appear to be getting the Lomtadze of ten years ago when, barely on his first million, he came across as a gangster in a suit (at least in that Youtube video where he gave a talk to some students entitled 'Eat lunch or be lunch') We're getting tech bro Lomtadze who is all smiles, bullet coffee and dressing in Uniqlo t-shirts and cargo pants. He's kept the Couhigs on to do all the PR so we'll barely notice him. Until the shirt is changed to red and white and all club purchases have to be done via his app.
Anybody who can fix the leak in the roof above my seat in the Frank Adams stand will do for me. On a serious note the future could be exciting and fun. Very much a case of ‘ watch this space ‘. Let us hope it does not end in tears.
How many clubs in the UK have owners with more money? Seems like he is richer than the Glazers, approximately the same as Todd Boehly. It’s very, very strange.
A bit early to sum up the Couhigs and their era as so much will depend on what we are yet to know, but....
Lent us money
Paid off debts
Boosted the budget, helped us to the championship
Kept the lights on for five years
Started the Development squad
Much personal time and effort, and £
Highly regarded by those that worked with them
Turned around the idea that we mustn't stand in any players way despite how paltry the offer might be, record fee for Anis
Wound up Big Darragh and his mates
Tidied up the place after being rundown due to lack of funds
Appointed and stood by Matt Bloomfield
Sure there are a few others and for that I'll be thankful, they didn't massively boost crowds or make us more sustainable but maybe they have put us on to the path to that.
Really not sure what to make of the new guy but there is time for that.

Assume 7 was the season ticket announcement?
Why not?
Hmmm.

Is it just me, or does anyone else fear the character of the club may change?
So what will their priority be … training ground has to be if you plan to run an academy.
Football eh. Bloody hell.
Let’s just assume they have the very best intentions, until proven otherwise. Mainly because we have no other choice.
Would explain that whole Reading situation!
It wouldn’t surprise me that we will still buy it
Let's hope it works out.
We have no idea who this chap really is, what his motivations are and how he plans to run the club.
Could be great. Could be a total disaster.
Hard not to be a bit worried when the club is changing hands just five years on from the end of trust ownership.

How does financial fair play work in our division?
Assume assets like training grounds and work to stadium can be fronted by an owner. And it's just wages/transfers that are linked to income?

Does he have enough money to buy Wycombe Abbey ?
I agree

I think so. I assume there are also rules that stop Kaspi being our new shirt sponsors for quadrillions of Georgian Lari.

He’s got enough money to buy all of High Wycombe.
The hospitals falling down the hill. He could fund the site for a new one and have Wycombe Wanderers back on there ancestral home.
Buy the old Staples site, turn that back into a (match day) bus station and we’re back to the old days. But newer.
#gettingcarriedAwaynow
Well he has 4.5billion pounds.
So not quite.
QPR's owner is worth 16bn USD
Excellent ! I expect to see a nice shiny new stadium in the town center in 2 years time!
Hmmm. Let’s hope this works out ok.
There’s lots of owners who rocked up with cash and things haven’t gone so well.
Of course there are also examples of the opposite happening.
I just hope it’s not loans, we keep the quarters, keep Bloomers and the season tickets don’t go through the roof…
I hope we finally fix the roof
No harm in knocking down the entire High Street and building it there now
It's simple.
Buy Verco under a linked company, then get Verco back on the shirts for a figure higher than anyone outside of the premier league.
Got to keep it subtle-ish.
Then start paying players similar to what we do now through the books but a huge extra sum off the books via another company as "consultancy"
AFAIK, if would be the same situation as buying Bearwood. Infrastructure costs don’t count towards profit and sustainablity rules.
I expect money being put into ways of showing new revenue streams (academy is the first one) so that more money can then Be put into the first team.
If he's got that much money it would be a nice gesture to lower season ticket prices for a season or two in the current climate
It'll be like Newcastle though early on. All the money in the world, but we need to get it into legit use for our embiggenment first!
Reducing season ticket income won't do that.
