I think it was generally acknowledged that Dobbo was the tactician and Gaz was the cheerleader for the team. I think Matt wants to be the tactician and very much his own man. I am not sure how that would dovetail with Dobbo.
And before anyone says anything this is not a criticism of either, they are both wonderful. Just not 100% convinced either would want to work with the other.
Hang on...so when GA was tactically naive, stubbornly sticking to a formation, shouting 'Press Press!', playing his mates and making late subs...that was actually Dobbo's fault?
I do think the GA-Dobbo dynamic will be an interesting one going forward, especially if GA does decide to throw himself into music and/or punditry (he has had a couple of pundit gigs lately, I think). It would be interesting to see what would happen if Thomas did leave and Dobbo was actually offered the role.
If RT did leave, I would be delighted if Dobbo was brought back into the fold. I think he was key to our success down the years and identifying young talent to bring through.
RT maybe a fine coach in his own right, althought the jury is out on this at WWFC, if he stays he would also get my backing going forwards.
A China watcher, or, less frequently, Pekingologist, is a person who researches and/or reports on the politics of the People's Republic of China for western consumption, especially in a Cold War context. "China watching" was coined by analogy to birdwatching, which takes place from a distance.
I had siblings who lived and worked in China for many years (a brother for seven and a sister for five). It was fascinating hearing in-person accounts of some of the things going on there!
He may have worked alongside him but he didn't come with him. Dobbo was head of the youth setup first then Gary Waddocks assistant. All before Ainsworth arrived. They make a very good pair but I can't imagine for a minute Dobbo would just hang on waiting for Ainsworth to get another job and retire if not. He has too much to offer. John Gorman for example went everywhere and anywhere if he was out of work, be it coach or assistant, sometimes in real glamour roles, sometimes just helping a mate out or taking a role and a few quid when nothing grand was doing.
Yes I totally agree. If you want to remain employed in the football industry you have to be prepared to take jobs offered and be prepared to move around. If not then the longer you are out of work you could just end up being forgotten. Lots of ex managers and coaches are out of work and have been for ages.
I can't believe a rumour started out by a single twitter poster turned out to be incorrect. I am going to have to re-evaluate everything I previously knew about the pursuit of veracity.

Maybe this might make it easy for Dobbo to return?
And then if there is an upturn there will be a Dobbo is actually calling the shots thread.
Is he agitating for a move to Aldershot?!
There's another thread with a few musings on this.
Big decision for Matt now. A heck of a time to lose his #2.
I a rumour so far
Or a brilliant time to, bearing in mind we're massively struggling?
Although if Dobbo came in and we started performing well again, would Dobbo get all the praise?
We had some trying to give Dobbo all the praise when Gareth had the occasional game off ill in 10 years!
Ah, thanks. As you were then!

Dobbo’s got a higher percentage win rate than Ainsworth ( if my memory serves me well but I could be wrong!!)

All speculative, of course.

I suspect this is just an internet rumour.
I can't see Dobbo going anywhere without Gareth, unless perhaps for a managers role. It would be like Laurel without Hardy!
This might be a stupid question, but who is Richard Thomas? I mean, I know he's Blooms' assistant, but where did he come from? Has he managed before?
I don't know a lot about him, but I think he was involved in Watford's academy before Colchester got him in as Blooms' assistant.

What is the source for this rumor?
Heinz?
Sounds tasty

Michael Doyle in the new Woking manager.
Can’t believe it. He was definitely walking in a ‘I’ve got the Woking job’ kind of way.
He would have been Woking 9 til 5
He was seen talking to a bloke who looked like he could be a director....

It seemed like such an obvious move for Woking to make too.
