That didn't paste well.
The what now trophy?!
I added a letter for comedic effect. Bristol Street Motors trophy. Link still works.
That's not a bad move I'd say, likely to get a few more people down there on a Saturday so a bit more money.
Perhaps there's a rule that you can't put these at 3pm on a Saturday or something, but it seems odd to reschedule it to a Saturday to potentially get a better crowd...but then make it a 12:30 KO.
But even so...tinpot trophy games are not appealing to the floating fan at the best of times, but when it's a dead rubber? Ouch.
If ever a game screams out for playing as many of the dev squad as we are allowed to, this would be it.
Apparently you need to name 4 "first teamers", which is defined as a player who:
We'll need the dev squad to sit in the stands in the hope of getting a three figure attendance
My immediate thought on 12:30 was wondering about potential floodlight/lighting cost savings but not sure if lights would need to be anyway this time of year with the bad weather etc.
Yes I’m sure it’s that.
Was initially delighted they'd moved to the Saturday, as it's not one I'd have bothered with after work on a Tuesday evening, but I'd go along on a Saturday for sure. The 12:30 kick off is annoying though, unlikely I'll be able to make that as it'll clash with my kid's football match.
Surely that's because of the 3pm blackout?
Yes that’s a good point, clubs can still stream if 12.30 can’t they.
Good opportunity for the club to maybe offer free entry to ST holders or something similar
Don't hold your breath
When I saw that in my calendar I thought I’d booked my car in for an MOT by mistake.
Probably can’t offer free admission to season-ticket holders as it’s a cup match albeit not one that’s going to pull in the crowds
we are top they are second one point between us both through to the knockout stages, but the group winner gets a home tie next round
Does this mean we could stick Hanlan out there on crutches and sub him off one minute in?
I’m sure I’ve heard of teams making overly early substitutions and getting fined for it, but I couldn’t quickly find an example.
This was one, but without a fine:

There is no blackout this weekend - international break
Doh
Possibly testing the waters over possible future changes, or just getting it done, cleaned up and out the way asap.
The next total solar eclipse in England isnt until 23rd September 2090!
Putting that in my calendar, thanks.
Good to see my brilliant idea of playing these games on international weekends has been adopted so quickly
You have been recognised for this brilliant idea and will receive a majority share of the gate less expenses. If every cinema, shop and TV station is closed on Saturday you might make enough for a cup of tea.
lets go team
Can you work on the hot water and the toilets next @Mr67 ?😊
That’s my 120th birthday sorted 👍
Playing the EFL Trophy group games on international dates is definitely the way forward. But the 12.30 kick-off puzzles me. The main motivation for people attending football is habit. 2pm maybe but lunchtime on a Saturday with just a few days notice doesn’t really help. Unfortunately I would have gone, but can’t now due to other commitments.
My guess is the saving on putting on the floodlights, which may slightly backfire if the weather is bad.
