Everyone terrible in the first half, Potts great in the second, Keogh giving Carlos Lopez a run for his money - hapless.
At 2-2, I had Leahy lined up but it just feels wrong to vote for anyone after such a car crash.
Mmmm
Individual errors from Keogh & Max cost us, though the latter did pretty much everything else after his early howler well.
Keogh made the back 3 look disjointed & his lack of pace became shockingly evident, Taff is also one paced but at least a little faster than Keogh.
Pattenden struggled against his winger at the back but played pretty well going forward, Low was pretty solid all night, Leahy was excellent & Boyes had a decent game.
In midfield Potts was anonymous in the first half but played much better in the second, Scowen had a poor game by his standards.
Up front Brandon ran about to little effect,, Philips wasnt up to Saturdays level but still worked hard as did Taylor.
As for the subs, they seemed to but the balance out Wheels & Gmac did ok & the others were pretty anonymous.
Hard choice but Leahy marginally from Potts & Low
POTE. Great summary.
I went Leahy - I thought he was composed all night even without the goal to account for.
I overcame the overwhelming disappointment and did likewise.
Weirdly we were collectively quite good especially in the second half, where we showed great spirit to turn around the match and dominate them, but we're ultimately beaten by 4 pieces of poor defending.
We'll play worse than that and win ...
Not against the top sides though.
Mrs Hanlan must be a member of the gasroom
I do think some family members vote, so may not be far off. Now let's see if the Stryjek and Keogh clans are around!
And Keogh gets a vote. I just realized we have Bolton friends who may be voting from their unique perspective!
Leahy for me.
I'd be very surprised if Leahy doesn't win player of the season. Consistently strong every week.
He must be top on both goals and assists? Pretty good going for an auxiliary centre back.
Baffled how Leahy is doing so well after that. Scored a cracker, but was in the middle of a lamentable defensive performance, no leadership when it was most needed, and distribution was patchy at best. That’s why it’s such a fun game I guess - we all see different things. I genuinely thought Potts would have run away with it when I came to have a look
Not a back three I would like to see again. Can we get Taff back in to start please?
Leahy probably the only really worthy contender tonight. Jasper was good attacking down the right first half, others did well during our good spell in the second, but nobody else really in contention.
Bizarre. Leahy was Wycombe MOTM by a country mile.
Pattenden was exposed constantly. With a midfield set up like our our wing back will be exposed. He don’t have a bad game and was more of an attacking threat than Brandon and Taylor combined in the first half. Saying that I would start Wheeler Saturday
Stay baffled. You’ll be in a small group.
What?
For what it’s worth, I think Leahy was quite poor. I actually had Boyes down as our best. Probably says more about the rest of the team than Boyes himself though.
Leahy for me, followed by Potts and Low.
Boyes was victim of tactics of opposition and our formation same Pattenden. Good coming forward, exposed in defence.
If I was the Oxford manager I employ wingers on Saturday knowing we press high on the wings and are not good at covering back with overloads. Not sure how we correct that. Phillips played very high down the middle so asking a bit from him to help the wing backs too, Potts we need anchored in the middle, no Josh, Saddlier didn't do anything to suggest he can do a role yet, maybe that Swiss Army knife David Wheeler has to do something.
These three stood out for me, although I’d put Potts first. I thought Boyes had a good second half.
Easy to blame the defence as a unit but Keogh was dreadful and directly contributed to their 3rd & 4th goals. A night to forget for Max too. I love the guy and I’m not questioning his quality all of a sudden but he’s had 3 or 4 poor performances of late.
Max’s sudden dip in form is certainly an enigma.
Will be interesting to see Ravizzoli in the upcoming cup games. I thought he looked solid in the pizza cup. Would be good to have a good alternative to Max who is looking a little low on confidence
