Evidently coins were thrown at Joe Low as well as the bottles. Charming lot those Rovers fans. They would be in danger of having their ground partially closed for the next game, but looks like they already anticipated that.
We had to really grind that out. Very encouraging to see us mix the ugly stuff alogside a really slick move for the second goal.
I still think there is loads to do on the training pitch to get a bit more cohesive pass and move play going on. And in truth I think a draw would not have been an unfair result. But there are signs of improvement.
Really impressed with Leahy today. He seemed to win a lot of 50/50 tackles and his dead ball delivery will clearly be a key feature of the season.
Phillips looks to have a great engine on him but doesn't offer anything like the same creativity as Gmac. I'd probably be looking to start the latter if possible, although perhaps there is an argument that he can be most effective when the game opens up in the final half hr.
Referee was really inconsistent and gave lots of soft fouls either way. I'd certainly have been asking for a pen at the end too.
As usual his talk does not match his results. 7 wins in 27 and he talks like he's Pep. How the feck do they tolerate his odious behaviour week after week I have no idea.
Barton is the king of knowing what he is going to get with Wycombe, yet for some reason it is only after the final whistle that he knew what he was going to get.
Only sympathy this evening is for police horses and Barton's partner. Odious little twunt.
Even if it wasn't all BS the idea that you can say you know what you're going to get, request your opponent to play in a certain style and then talk them down after you've been beaten again as if it's all such a weird anomaly is just weird.
As much as Barton is an odious piece work I'd gladly never see in professional football again, if Bristol Rovers can keep him in place for our next match that would be greatly appreciated. He's one of those managers who let us beat them in their head well before a ball is kicked.
I have often watched a different game to the fans on the opposition forum (even some on the Gasroom) but how you can describe a team that had more shotson goal and was leading 2-0 until the 83rd minute as poor and unlikely to improve is beyond me. I mean I know the ref was weak and gave us everything as usual but even so...
Expect he made no mention that they had more bookings than us, including a couple of crippling tackles that brutalised our players, leaving one off to hospital?

Taylor taken to hospital for treatment. Get well soon.

Doesn't sound great. Let's hope it's not too bad and better than we are all fearing
Best wishes to Dale.
Did the ref give us everything again?
Is is shocking to lose to such a poor team again?
Anyone know what the nature of the injury was? Do we think we are going to have to make another signing ?

Barton seemed particularly pissed when the 4th official wouldn't give him the bottle that was thrown at Max
Typical. Didn’t go, didn’t watch and we win. Superstition suggests I should avoid all Saturday matches until we lose again.
Probably needed something to drool into.
I’m not sure a club and a manager have ever been such a perfect fit.
Barton:
”Wycombe had a game plan, sat off, wound the clock down, all the old tricks.
”If I was paying money to watch the two teams I wouldn’t be particularly enamoured to see them lump it in the manner they do.
”I was praying it rained!”
To be fair ‘all the old tricks,’ does include scoring more goals than a Joey Barton team.

Edit: Blaming the sprinklers is a new one!
Almost as Derek Adams blaming the grass being too green
Sounds basically exactly the same as last time we beat them...and the time before that.
Embarrassing really.

How would you feel if your manager blamed your lack of goals on a broken sprinkler? How is he even in a job?
Max would’ve saved it 😊
Grand daughter came for her first sleepover tonight - add to that we won our first 5 after she was born. Think she’ll be coming again 😊

I’d like to beat him in his head.
When did "having a game plan" become such a back handed code for some sort of negative, cynical style of football?
Surely even the dimmest manager would recognise that having a game plan, that is a plan for the game is actually essential?
Brilliant.
We could turn up at Rovers and play like prime Barcelona and he'd not give us any credit.
What happened to Taylor??
Great start for Low, 3 goals in August!
Think he was the blocker for what looked a certain goal late on too.
But between Taf, Forino and Low, that's a huge set of threats from set pieces.

A Rovers goon utterly mashed him in a challenge.
Perhaps not what you'd expect from such a superb clean footballing side, as Barton might think they are.
A great win in very tricky conditions. Any rumours of any incomings/outgoings over the next few days guys?
