How to throw away a winning position
Last night I witnessed a most amazing game in the worst ground in any professional league in England, Scotland or Wales I’ve ever been to. In the Viaplay Cup it was Edinburgh City v Kelty Hearts.
Played at the new Meadowbank “Stadium” it has one stand that has 3 rows of seats totalling 499. Last night 426 turned up, including about 100 from Kelty and 100 Man Utd fans who’d been to watch their friendly v Lyon at Murrayfield that afternoon. Consequently the ground has very little atmosphere, save for the 30 or so under-15 ultras at one end of the stand.
Edinburgh City came out of the traps very quickly and took their chances well - to go 3-0 up after only 20 minutes. A cricket score looked possible but first Kelty pulled one back, then an amazing breakaway goal by Tiwi Daramola reduced the arrears, then the same player equalised before half-time. Two quick-fire goals after half-time, including a lob from the half-way line, gave Kelty a 5-3 lead which they kept until the end.
Not a place to watch football! But the Scotch pies at £2.50 each were good value.

I'd still rather that ground than the away end at Kenilworth Road...
Sincerely hope the fourth Ashes Test doesn’t appear on this thread.
Isn't the weather going to intervene Mr Meteorologist?
It really is odd that there is not a reserve day. You wait basically two years for an Ashes series (on average) and then a vital test is potentially taken out by the rain.
As I understand it from people who claim to enjoy cricket, rain is part of the game.
I wonder if some of them sit there in the downpour and say "I wouldn't want to watch this every week."
I thought the rain allowed spectators to go and get some sandwiches...in the bar.
