2023/24 squad
If I've got my maths right, we've room to make nine 'senior' outfield signings (see criteria at top of spreadsheet). Mellor has now passed the over-21 threshold. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yNdy4nwkLKHSp2rOFOVAovRDlmfJo8Cw/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=118045773420542020310&rtpof=true&sd=true

Thanks for compiling. Be very surprised if Mellor plays for us this season.
Agreed, so realistically 10 spots to fill.
Matches up pretty well with your list from the other thread as far as positions.
It has been a weird summer so far in some ways. We kept players who I was not sure we could (Scowen, Vokes, Taffs) but then lost several players I did not expect to (or at least lose so many of them such as Gape AND Curtis).
I think keeping that top quality spine puts us in good position overall, but we have to nail the window, especially for creativity.
My greatest hope going forward is that we find a way to get the ball to Vokes' feet in the box more often.
Looks like Wheeler has done his foot in. Did we know about this and I'm late to the party?
New to me! He played against Portsmouth, after all. Good catch!
Twitter is all over it. Gasroom not so much. Worrying either way.
We may have nine spaces but I don't think we will fill them.
I bet we start the season with less than twenty players who've ever started an EFL game.
I thought we were past those days, but sadly I suspect you're right.
If we start the season with twenty players I fancy our changes against Exeter!
Totally agree about the need to feed Sam Vokes on the deck. That could be key.
in terms of the need to reinforce the central spine (alongside Josh Scowen), I wonder to what extent Pattenden, Ward and Young will start to realise their full potential? Gape and Thompson will be hard to replace. Lewis Wing even harder.
He'll get preseason to prove his capability. Considering the gaps in the squad he has to play at least until new signings are made.
It really is hard to see Josh Scowen hanging around if we don’t bring in some new players before the season starts.
I have been wondering lately if we could convert JMac to an 8, to give us more flexibility (as he could still provide cover for the backline when needed too). He has the stamina to be a box-to-box player, is pacey, and can tackle back (obviously). I could see him putting a defence on their heels with late runs in and around the box with his speed. He has a decent shot too, as can be seen from when he was on freekicks. The one downside seems to be his range of passing.
It may sound like a weird thing to say, but given O'Nien has ended up a Championship calibre CB, sometimes thinking outside the box can provide benefit.
I think we will bring in some new players before the season starts
