Staffs v Bucks (50 overs) - change of venue

edited June 2023 in Not Football

On Sunday (18th) Bucks travel to Staffordshire for their third match in the National Counties 50 over competition. The match was originally scheduled for Porthill Park in Newcastle-under-Lyme but has subsequently been moved to Moddershall & Oulton Cricket Club, just outside Stone (postcode ST15 8RN). Thought this might be of interest to any Midlands-based WW fans who also like a bit of cricket. 50 overs per side, 11am start.

  • Bucks lost the toss & Staffordshire are batting. At the halfway point of their innings Staffs are 152-2. The match is being played at the picturesque Moddershall & Oulton Cricket Club near Stone. Perched on top of a hill with lovely views to the west it’s a great place to watch a game of cricket.

  • staffs have completed their 50 overs & finished on 258-9. Some very wayward pace bowling got Bucks off to a bad start but the introduction of 4 spin bowlers dramatically slowed the run rate. Leg-spinner Stephen Croft was the pick of the bowlers taking 5 wickets. 18 year old debutant Teddy Fleming was equally impressive with his left-arm off-spin and he was rewarded with two wickets.

  • With thunder rumbling & rain beginning to fall the players left the field with Bucks’ reply on 105-1 after 22 overs. However, as 20 overs had been bowled it constituted a match with Bucks winning under the Duckworth Lewis regulations. Bucks now take on Wales next Sunday at Slough CC in their last match in the 50 over competition.
