Hibernian Park, Edinburgh, 1881?
Sorry incorrect !
Loakes Park ?
I'm not even sure if they are men or women playing
Loakes Park without doubt.
Well done @Cyclops and @ChasHarps of course it is!
I’m sure @ChasHarps can fill us in with more detail, but I believe it was the British Ladies Football Club possibly in the 1930’s?
Have to admit I cropped the photo from the below, as the church was a bit of a giveaway!
More on this British Ladies FC match, which took place on 11 November 1895:
More here, some way down, on a page which includes a detailed history of the club.
The BFP match report.
I see A. N. Other played for the South. Wasn’t she the great great grandmother of A. Trialist who has had such a long and illustrious career pre season for the Chairboys?
When did A. Triallist start being used instead of A. N. Other?
Other is a real surname. Has there ever been a real person called A. N. Other on a teamsheet?
Yes, I can remember A N Other (not an actual name, I’m afraid) being used around 70 years ago. No idea when Trialist became a thing, never mind an anonymous moniker.
