Yep ! Broke my leg, had to have a plate in it and was in hospital for 3 days, couldn't believe my luck when i found out I was high enough and the ward i was on was on the right side of the hospital for the pitch, was only a capital league game though, but still watched it.
Sorry @bookertease didn't even follow WWFC at the time. I used to watch QPR as my dad used to take me to Loftus Road on my fortnightly visit when I was younger. Fell out of love with football after a one off visit to watch Swindon v Chester FC in the Milk Cup with a Chester supporting mate, (watched a young Ian Rush play for Chester), and got attacked by some Swindon supporters after the game. Only started attending WWFC when they first moved to AP after losing the will to travel down the A40. Got hooked pretty soon after and the rest as they say is history. 🤷♂️
The then Wycombe Chairman Jack Smethurst (no not the one who starred in “Love Thy Neighbour”! Strangely enough, he lived in and supported Chesham) watched the Middlesbrough FA Cup game from the hospital balcony where he was receiving treatment at the time. If you watch the “big match” footage you see him waving to the team from the hospital with a handkerchief.

Lovely gasholders.

My paternal grandfather worked as a Watchman at those gas holders. He lived on Wendover Street, a short stone's throw from Loakes Park.
It's where the WWFC journey began for our family! That photo stirs up some strong memories.
From 1937 ...
Yep, me. Had a motorbike accident and was kept in for a few days and watched the Middlesborough match from the hospital ward. 😁
Oh wow! Every cloud and all that!
I hope someone made use of your ticket if you’d managed to get one!

What a day that was, my first Wycombe game aged 10. I remember the players waving up to the hospital before the game
