Bucks v Dorset 50 over match at GX this Sunday

For those interested in an inexpensive day out at cricket, Bucks are taking on Dorset this Sunday in the NCCA 50 over knock-out competition at Gerrards Cross Cricket Club. The match starts at 11am on Sunday 4/6/23 at GXCC which is next to the tennis club in Dukes Lane. This gets very congested so it’s best to park in Dukes Wood Avenue & walk down. Forecast is for a lovely day. Refreshments & food available at the bar. A raffle will take place & scorecards are available to buy.

Comments

  • Do the minor counties still compete in a 3 day competition or is it all limited overs now?

  • They play in 3 competitions:

    1) T20 knock-out. Won this year by Staffordshire (beat Cornwall in the final).

    2) 50 over knock out (4 games per side in each group, 2 home & 2 away). Bucks are in the same group as Dorset, Staffordshire, Wiltshire & Wales Minor Counties. The Final is held at Wormsley on August 27th. Remaining Bucks games:

    July 16th: Semi Finals

    Aug 27th: Final (@ Wormsley)

    3) 3-day championship matches (4 in total, 2 home & 2 away). Bucks won promotion last season & are in the same group as Norfolk, Suffolk Staffordshire & Lincolnshire. The fixtures are:

    ** IMPORTANT CHANGE OF VENUE:

Bucks’ next 50 over match away to Staffordshire has been moved from Porthill Park CC in Newcastle-under-Lyme to Moddershall & Oulton CC at Stone, Staffs (ST15 8RN). Still an 11am start.

  • After a real bash at the end Dorset ended their 50 overs on 275-5. Sean Young made an undefeated 132 as the ball disappeared to all parts of the ground, including neighbours gardens. Bucks will need to bat well at 5.5 runs per over to win this one.

  • Chasing 276 to win, at the 25 over halfway stage Bucks are 99-4.

  • Bucks all out 180. Dorset win by 95 runs. Next Bucks game away to Staffordshire (ST15 8D) on Sunday 18th June. Please note the new venue: Moddershall & Oulton CC near Stone, Staffs.
