AFC Wimbledon Family Day
AFCW are hosting their first ever Family Day at their new stadium today.
There will be live music, food, inflatables, 5-a-side and even opportunities to abseil from the roof. This is completely the right way to build interest amongst the next generation of fans, and also those that no longer attend games.
I believe we have done this in the past, not on a match day? I think this would be fantastic for the club and the local community. I get there will be conversations around funding and it’ll be interesting to learn, after today, the impact it has had for AFCW. I wonder how the balance will be between a short term investment and long term gain.

Helps that their stadium is in the middle of a community rather than miles out of the way at the end of an industrial estate.
Thanks once again to the Tory councillors who subsequently grubbily tried to take reflected glory from every subsequent success that came our way.
Yeah it’s a very good point. I wonder if there’s an opportunity to do a ‘shop and play’ type of event, with a free coach taking people from Eden to AP or something.
It’s not like we don’t have a massive field for parking in
If we try and absail from the Frank Adams Stand, we'll break the roof even more (or have a lawsuit because someone's fallen through it!)
Could also be a way of fixing it on the cheap. “Whilst you’re up there…..”
Talking of AFC Wimbledon they do seem to do a lot of good work locally. I live in Balham and they have a permanent table outside of the Sainburys here which takes donations etc.
I have heard more than one person say that they go and occasionally watch them because they do a lot for the community.
They had a stall in Kingston too the other day. They really are a community club.
