Non league match report

For @Steve_Peart, Mr Worboys and anyone else interested.

In an attempt to take my mind off turbulent times at Wycombe, got in free for the second half at Nantwich Town v Marske United in the Northern Premier League. Both sides deep in relegation trouble played out a dire match, the away side delighted with a 2-1 win, the home side's only shot on target producing a consolation goal. A Marske official approached me in the bar afterwards jovially asking me where my chairman was. I said he was building a chairlift up to West Wycombe. He walked way with a bewildered look on his face. Marske-by-the-sea is a village in North Yorkshire. On the coast surprisingly.

  • I had to look it up @LX1, a Premier Division relegation match, attendance 341.

The losing joint-manager, Gary Taylor-Fletcher (ex-Blackpool, Huddersfield and Lincoln amongst others) pulled no punches afterwards: "We’ve got 2 or 3 leaders but the rest are just accepting mediocrity."

The Dabbers' twitter link to the match highlights says "this video is unavailable". Perhaps just as well.

If we are going to get this chairlift built, can I ask that it passes over Loakes Park on its way from the railway station, playing The Liquidator, as I think could be heard in the 80s?

  • A far more insightful report than I could muster! General feeling amongst the Dabbers fans is one of resignation to relegation. Got a couple of old professionals up front who are not interested for me.
