Local football: Monday 2nd January
With Wycombe at Peterborough on New Year’s Day along with most EFL games it leaves Monday 2nd January as the focus for local Non-League clubs. If you fancy a game to watch locally next Monday here’s a selection:
SOUTHERN LEAGUE CENTRAL DIVISION (3pm):
Aylesbury United v Berkhamsted
(at Chesham United FC)
SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION SOUTH (3pm):
Hayes & Yeading v Harrow Boro
ISTHMIAN LEAGUE SOUTH CENTRAL DIVISION (3pm):
Marlow v Binfield
SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE PREMIER DIV (3pm):
Risborough Rangers v Leighton Town
COMBINED COUNTIES LEAGUE PREMIER DIV NORTH (11.30am):
Flackwell Heath v Burnham
A local double? Flackwell Heath then Risborough or Chesham?

With the current very wet weather it’s worth checking with the relevant club before you set off for any particular Non-League game on January 2nd.
London Tigers v Holmer Green, 3pm at Amersham Town
Spartan Div 1
I think today proves a point for local clubs playing when most Premier League / EFL clubs aren’t. Flackwell Heath beat Burnham 2-1 in today’s 11.30 kick-off, attracting 366 spectators - 4 times their usual average.
Aylesbury United went down 4-0 at home to league leaders Berkhamsted in front of 285 fans - double their usual number (at Chesham United). Risborough Rangers lost 3-2 to Leighton Town while resurgent Holmer Green won 4-2 against London Tigers at Amersham Town. On a lovely sunny day it was extra money in the coffers for our local clubs.
Quite sad to hear Aylesbury’s crowds are that low. I guess that’s what a lengthy exile will do.
Quite amazing turnout for the Wessex League (step 5) derby on Jan 2nd. AFC Portchester 4 Fareham 1. Attendance 1,598.
