2022-23 League One stats
Even more data available from Opta this season. Happy to try and explain any of the metrics if need be! https://theanalyst.com/eu/2022/08/league-one-stats-2022-23/

So we are quite slow and direct at the moment then!
Our "zones of control" look bizarre compared to most teams.
Goal kicks, kick offs and corners! haha
Based on last season's, I'd expect to see even less blue on there come the end of this season... https://theanalyst.com/eu/2022/06/english-league-one-2021-22-stats
Did click on the link but lost interest when I read the word ‘expected’.
Sorry dude not looking to open up that can of worms again 😂😂
Genuinely love stats especially in sports, I’m just more interested in stats showing what has happened and when in a game etc to gather a personal opinion on the outcome, rather than seeing what’s expected.
I’d love some breaking lines stats if you can get them @ReturnToSenda ? This is where I imagine (could be wrong) that Horgan would feature highly (see his ball at Northampton where no doubt De Barr gets the assist, not Horgan) as an attacking centre mid and also Wing would have shown how progressive he made us at holding centre mid with Scowen (after Thompson got injured) before that red card last season.
Myth-busting xG explainer here - I don't do that anymore 😂
As for stats on line-breaking, I've worked out pre-assists manually before (not publicly available for our level). Not sure on anything more advanced, but 'Key Pass Ending Carries' are kind of related to what you're on about.
"With xG, we can actually quantify how likely a player is to score"
ie it assumes all players are equal. It's meaningless without further context.
Or in other words it's a metric which works on the basis that if the ball falls to Jack Grimmer he's as likely to score as Sergio Aguerro
I’d assume that if the ball fell to Jack Grimmer, he’d be much more likely to score than Aguerro.
If you deliberately misunderstand it, yes.
Do those two scenarios not carry the exact same xG then?
