Interested to see where he slots in - best-suited to DLP role imo, although that's obvs not something we've typically made use of - hard to see him playing much of a part at this stage, but we shall see.
I think Gape has been evolving over the last couple of seasons to be much more like a Wing type player than a Scowen type player. So with Gape / Wing and Thommo / Scowen we have a pretty solid centre mid selection. Nick Freeman I'm putting with Mehmeti.
Hopefully Freeman will come back firing on all cylinders like he was at the start of last season after his little chat with Gareth.
Useful to have a bloke who can play lots of positions given the 22 man squad limit. I make it he’s played left wing, right wing, left of a front three, right of a front three, in the hole, attacking no.8 type midfielder, holding midfielder, centre back, left wing back and right wing back at different times during his time at the club.
Because maybe the players don't want everyone to know how much they are paid/the length of the contract?
Despite what many people seem to think, in most proffesions, the details of your payment contract are a matter between you and your employer. And please don't give me this "As football fans we have a right to know", that just not true.

Its interesting that none of the deals has disclosed how long they are. JJ would be a yr (because of his age) bit nothing about Gape or Wing's
An unwelcome thing we started doing last season.
We therefore have to assume it's JJ 1 year, other lads 2. Think Baker confirmed Gape was 2.
The JJ announcement tweet implies that it's one, but it was always going to be. Can usually work these things out with a bit of rummaging.
Lewis Wing with a full pre-season with the lads will be like a new signing. He’s going to play a huge part this season.
Don't know why the club aren't saying how long the contracts are for?
Because of people like us.
Because the world then knows when to poach our players for nothing.
Agreed.
We all love Thompson and Gape, but the Scowen Wing partnership felt a lot more rounded.
You think anyone in the game couldn't find out exceptionally quickly if they wanted to?
Pleasing news on all three new contracts.
Gape was absolutely superb at the end of the season after such an extended break through injury. Great to see him get that new deal on merit.
Wonder what all 4 in a diamond would be like
GK
McCarthy Forino Taff Obita
Scowen
Gape Thompson
Wing
McCleary/Hanlan/Mehmeti/Horgan (one of)

Still a strong team by the way!

This must be our strongest-ever midfield department?
Nick Freeman
Oh fuck

Nick Freeman in more attacking role?
I suppose we will have to wait for Rob's open letter outlining tactics for the new season.

Some great players but very few goals in that line up
I wonder if we have thought about Mr. Wing’s goalkeeping relation, Jason Steele?
Sure we would have done: 31, 3rd choice at B.H.A, needs game time, England Under 21: dosh might be an issue.
Wingy is excellent news, brings some much needed height amongst his many gifts.
Be interesting to see what, if anything, occurs with Anis and Sullay.
Shame about Antony, I thought he was a really nice fella, very chilled, I wish him every success.
I love how Wing is just named as "a relative" of Steele. Mysterious.
Also looked v promising at WB before his injury, of course

Keith Ryanesque
Wait, when did he play centre-back?!
Wing worth £1.8m?

He ended up playing centre back in that bizarre League Cup match down at Exeter last season.
He played about four different positions in that match alone due to us getting so many injuries.
He ended up at centre half for the last half an hour, something you would never, ever have imagined and actually he did ok.
He’s not very high on my list of replacements for Anthony Stewart, however.
Wage and length of contract are two massively different things.
The former is never released, the latter is always released. Except by us recently. Quite oddly.
Nick Freeman as a Stockdale replacement, then? Sounds like he has done every position plus commentary!
Now should I edit that before @LX1 logs on and relates it to his Tinder profile? Hmmmm...
I understand keeping transfer fees undisclosed, but we absolutely have the right to know how long a player is under contract for.
They disclosed the length of Young's extension but were vague about the bunch who extended together last year
Wednesday fan I know has just told me they've stopped doing it too. How weird.
