  • Damn. McCleary out then.

  • Oh dear. Worried now

  • I’m wondering if it would be a boost to hear that Forino, Mehmeti, Hanlan, Thompson and Freeman are unavailable.

  • Didn't for a second worry about him.
It was always a case of will Mehmeti be back.

Hanlan has been confirmed out for the season by the classic "fan asks player directly" evidence on the fb group.
That and the fact he was pictured still in a protective boot as of Saturday! You don't wear those for giggles.
Thompson and Freeman are a given to be out.

    Forino hopefully back asap.

  • Forino could be key.

  • As long as one of Hanlan Mehmeti or McCleary is fit to start I don't worry too much.

  • Do we have any news on McCleary's other leg?

    Alive apparently.

I'm a little worried. With Mehmeti and Hanlan we'd have mouth watering options in there.
However, Obita, Wheeler, Bayo and Kaikai are decent alternatives.

But we'll give it a great go either way I'm certain.

  • I am imagining the 'Tis but a scratch' chap from Monty Python now...

  • Those dead legs are such a show stopper. Only time it ever happened to me was about 2mins into an indoor game that was at the utterly daft time of 10-11pm.

Didn't drive, so had to spend 58mins watching the game go on from the corner and then wait 15mins for them to all change.

    Glorious memory!

  • I bet they still remember you watching them change from the corner too!

Do you honestly think he should start ahead of Stewart?

He's had an incredibly impressive start for someone who's in their first professional season, but that's still miles off Stewart imo. Definitely feel there's some getting giddy about him because he's got a catchy chant and he's new & young.

  • To me Forino is key. Not sure that he will get the nod against Stewart though. His marshalling of opposition players is good and his distribution of the ball is better than Stewart IMO. On his day Stewart can be very good. I am however just a bit worried that he has seemed to be out of sorts over the last couple of games he has played.

    Agree totally.
It's baffling seeing people who overrated Stewart earlier in the season, now suggesting he shouldn't even be in the starting 2!

It's like they've forgotten how we looked without Stewart and Tafa a mere couple of months ago.

Forino is very promising, but only a few games ago had a real ropey first half, caught out of position and lunging in a few times. Some of us even thought he was injured and wouldn't last the game.

You surely have to go with experience in this sort of big game, especially now Stewart has come back in.

  • I think every player in the squad is going to be up for this the way they were the last time, whatever their role, and the good thing is we're there this time as well!!

Forino isn't miles off Stewart at all. I'm wary of recency bias / going by a small-ish sample size, but he looks more well-rounded than Stewart already and I think better suits our slightly evolved approach in terms of ball-playing ability (although they're both strong ball carriers).

I feel like a lot of people rave about Forino's excellent tackling and last ditch defending without realising the reason he has to do that more than other defenders.

Tafazolli is a class above, there's a reason he rarely has to make those desperate lunges, and although Stewart does have the odd dodgy spell on the ball, he is way ahead of Forino in that department, it's laughable to think otherwise

Forino's strength is his aggressiveness in out and out defending, aerial ability and pace, he dominated against Wednesday in that department and I wouldn't be totally dismayed if he was playing, but I think it would hurt our chances overall

  • Then again, Stewart seems to relish these massive occasions!

  • Forino v Stewart
    Gape v Wing

Couple of big calls there for sure.

    Nice problem to have!

  • I honestly believe it will like a cauldron tmw night, with an atmosphere and intensity not seen since that Slough game in our double year.
On current form Forino would normally get the nod, but I just think GA, will go for experience and plump for Stewart.

  • Gaz, like the majority of managers, rarely changes a winning team unless he has to.

  • I've got a sneaky feeling Curtis Thompson is going to play

He sounds hopeful on his social media posts but it's fairly vague.

Forino over Stewart, Wing over Gape for me.
