    SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIV 1 SOUTH:

    Attendance not known

Amazing story for Oxfordshire village side North Leigh who finished outside the play-offs but got in due to Welwyn Garden City failing with their ground grading.

  • Winchester 4 Bristol Manor Farm 1
Att. 1,023 (closer to 1,500 in reality, must have been a fiddled gate).
Got some close friends who follow Winchester so a great day enjoyed today and fully deserved first ever promotion to the Southern Premier for the hosts. The ground was absolutely rammed and one stand behind the goal literallly gave way to a pitch invasion when Winch made it 3-0.
Absolute carnage and great scenes, non league seems to be in a really good place right now.

  • Today’s final Isthmian League decider:

    PREMIER DIVISION PLAY-OFF FINAL:

    Hornchurch 1 Cheshunt 2
    Attendance: 2,035

  • @DJWYC14 Some very good crowds in this year’s play-off finals. Let’s hope Non-League Cup Final Day at Wembley on May 22nd proves a great occasion. Bucks side Newport Pagnell Town, the only club in the North of the county with a history & legitimacy, will play Littlehampton Town in the Vase Final.

  • Feel sorry for Hayes there

  • I was at the Chertsey game. Stadium was very busy. Everyone had a beer in hand, supporters were mingled and a great atmosphere.

Chertsey equalised with the last kick of normal time, then took the lead in first half of extra time. Hanwell equalised quite quickly.

A cagey last period of extra time saw end to end football but not huge amount of bodies in the box. A lot of get the ball as far away from our goal as possible.

In the end Chertsey hearts were broken by a break away goal, the striker just nudging the ball past the onrushing keeper on the edge of the box.

Chertsey pressed and pressed for an equaliser, which would have come but for a fantastic save from the Hanwell keeper.

3-2 Hanwell, pitch invasion and a real disappointment for Chertsey.

The last two North Leigh goals were scored by 43 year old Jefferson Louis. North Leigh has a population less than 2000, smaller then Long Crendon. Proper village stuff.

  • See that Sam Saunders has been playing regularly for Hanwell this season when his coaching commitments at Brentford allowed, he wasn't available for the play off final unfortunately.

Also Hanwell keeper Hugo Sobte has been regularly training with Wycombe squad for the last few seasons. Not sure what the deal is there though since he's never signed a contract.
