3. Stewart - 4
4. Jacobson - 4 (incl. 1 shared)

Notable developments:
1. This race has almost played out like League Two, with the frontrunners all losing form (aside from Scowen) and the backmarkers catching fire.
2. Form watch: Horgan has scored a whopping 54 votes in the last 3 starts at an average of 18 per game.
3. Form watch: McLeary has scored just 8 votes in the last 15 games.
4. Horgan just became the 19th player to win a Gasroom MOTM award, out of 22 players who have made a start this season. The only players to have not won an award are Kaikai (8), Wheeler (8), and Freeman (1).

Player of the Season forecast:
Scowen leads two of the three major categories now, and is very unlikely to be caught for overall votes.

Comments

  • Surprised to see JJ so high and Stocko not here.

Scowen is the most deserving player of the season by far at this stage.

  • JJ basically had one game where he destroyed everyone in votes - he got 70-something for the Sunderland game. Stockdale was fairly high at one time but that bad run scuppered him a little.

Scowen has been very consistent. If he plays, he gets a chunk of votes. Others have been up and down, with purple patches and down periods, but Scowen tends to almost always have an 8 / 10 game or thereabouts.

Classic Scowen. He's always been that way. I'm so glad he's back. What a player.

  • I’m reading an interesting auto biography by Frank Clark. It’s about 10 years old but he certainly knows the game after many years as player and manager. He is musing on how small clubs can beat big clubs in cup ties. The small clubs are full of good players, he says. A lot of them are lads who are ex-premier league academy youngsters so they can certainly play. In fact these lads might be 95% as good as a ‘standard’ Premier league player (excepting Ronaldo, Salah type talent). So on their day, playing well, they can beat a Premier league team.

The difference is the lads who play for the premier league teams are incredibly consistent, says Frank. Their highs and lows are in a much smaller range than the lower league players.

And that’s why Scowen gets so many votes, he is so consistent.
