Comments

  • All the Spartan South Midlands matches go ahead today but Aylesbury Vale Dynamos v Leighton Town is subject to an 11.30am pitch inspection.

  • Aylesbury Vale Dynamos pitch seems to spend a fair amount of time under water in Haywoods lane.

  • There’s a ditch & stream at one end that floods regularly. In the summer it’s thick with mosquitoes & you get bitten to death in August/September watching a match. Otherwise it’s fine! ?

  • Marlow 3 Binfield 0, FT, crowd was a healthy 320

Hat trick from Marlow no.9, the first a penalty, the second a close range tap in after quick play in the box and the third a screamer from range.

  • FT Buckingham Athletic 1-0 Long Crendon.

Two top half teams struggled to pass on a sticky pitch with quite long grass. It is less than 100 yards from the River Great Ouse, so grateful that it was still on.

So it became an even, midfield battle with not enough box action. The goal came on 21 minutes, probably should have been saved, video below.

Attendance 94, with several others stopping to watch on the riverside path outside.

  • Risborough Rangers 1 Tring Athletic 0.

With Leighton Town’s match at Aylesbury Vale Dynamos falling a victim to the weather, Risborough Rangers were able to extend their lead at the top of the table with a hard-earned victory over lowly Tring Athletic in front of a crowd of 238.

The visitors played 4-4-2 but dropped back to the edge of the own penalty area on many occasions which helped frustrate Risborough. But the home side finally broke through near the end after a header first hit the post.

I see that Georges Ehui is at Marlow these days. He made three sub appearances for us in 2012-13, after coming through our youth setup. He made his debut in a 3-0 win over Burton Albion, replacing Josh Scowen.

  • In tonight’s Southern League Premier Division South match Beaconsfield Town drew 2-2 with second-place Met Police at Holloways Park.

  • @DJWYC14 Marlow striker with the hat-trick - Nnamdi Nwachuku.

  • Yesterday’s Spartan League local results:

    Premier Division:

Aylesbury Vale D p-p Leighton Town
    Harefield United 1-5 Flackwell Heath
    Leverstock Green 1-2 Holmer Green
    Risborough Rangers 1-0 Tring Athletic

    Division One:

    Amersham T 1-1 Penn & Tylers Green
    Buckingham Athletic 1-0 Long Crendon

  • Last minute winner for Holmer to ease their relegation worries. 47 year old Scott McGleish was a 75' sub for Leverstock.
