From the (way) outside there seem to be two main problems. GA and Dobbo have underestimated what a hot mess QPR is from top to bottom and there has been almost zero buy in from the players.
Gareth’s great strength is culture building, but that takes the time he may not get. He’s basically gone from one of the safest jobs in the EFL to one of the most perilous
Our old friends in Germany SC Verl are making quite the name for themselves, punching well above their weight in the 3rd division. Their away followings are getting a bit of attention, whose turnouts may or may not be affected by some fans balking at being seen along side some of the banners on show on their away trip at Erzgebirge Aue...
Fair enough - I think I am just disappointed that his motivational skills were the "movable object" compared to the "irresistible force" of the QPR players' inability to be motivated!
I thought Gaz going at that time was a mistake. Summer time he might have had another Wembley date with us under his belt we would have waved him off with thanks and he would have had a clean slate to clear QPR up if they survived or got relegated. He'll get another L1/L2 job no doubt but taking them down will kill his Championship credentials for a while I think.
I realise I’m a bit late in posting this but the battle between 1st and 2nd ended…Walton 5-1 Basingstoke! Walton still top with one left to play, and Eddie Simon still banging them in for fun. Both sides are on 86 points.
Walton have scored 100 league goals this season and Simon has scored 40 of them!
I am not so sure GA would be immediately successful anywhere again, or even if he came back to us. He had ten years to build a club, and it is hard to come in somewhere new where you need immediate results (as he is seeing now). The following is not meant to be disrespectful to GA, who I love, but a metaphor that sums it up for me:
Gareth settles down with a wife (Wycombe) and they have a very loving, stable marriage. The one cloud is that Gareth is always open about the fact he has never fully gotten over an old flame (QPR) and that if she came calling, it could jeopardize the marriage. Wycombe is very understanding, as QPR was a long term romance that ended amicably, but Wycombe is always wary that QPR may come calling someday.
Finally, the old flame gets on the phone to Gareth, but she has fallen on extremely hard times and is in a right state. Gareth feels like he can be a knight in shining armour and save her from her predicament. He gives up on his long term relationship with Wycombe to ride to the rescue, only to find that his old flame is in a far worse state than he realized, and basically just wants to use him to get out of her predicament, rather than truly rekindle a long term romance. The feelings of love are not truly mutual at all, and every day is hellish as Gareth tries to love and nurture only to have it thrown back in his face. Gareth realizes he may get dumped any day owing to how irrational and volatile his old flame has become.
If Gareth does get dumped, it would not be the same to go back to Wycombe. You can't just pick a stable relationship back up once you moved on from it and expect it to be the same. There are new relationships out there to be had, or some other old flames (Port Vale), but the feeling of stability has completely gone and cannot be retrieved.
I always wondered what would happen to our exam system if someone found a lost interview where Orwell explained that no it wasn’t an allegory, it was just about a bunch of talking animals and that.
That is horrible. I have seen all the protests of "but she would have met the players later as part of the mascot package" but come on, how hard is it to make eye contact and smile?
Congratulations to Leyton Orient! Great to see them overcome their horrible owner of years past and finally get back to the third tier. Will be an interesting matchup next season.
AC Milan with an absolute masterclass in defending to beat Napoli and reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in 16 years. Six straight clean sheets in the CL is some going - especially for a team who have been bang average in the league of late. Likely sets up a Milan derby semi, could be spicy.

They are not HIS players though.

He knew that when he took the job. He backed himself to make a difference

QPR most likely wouldn't have been available though. Or they wouldn't have come in for him.
It was his time, it was less than ideal, but it is what it is.

What a final day it promises to be.
Port Vale sack Darrell Clarke and appoint Andy Crosby until the end of the season.
Could it be that they bide their time until GA inevitably becomes available in the summer..
That would be annoying to say the least
Hell of a commute up to Stoke, especially for Dobbo living in the New Forest

A very poignant allegory, @Shev.
The Gasroom's very own George Orwell!
Who got the cage full of rats attached to their face?
@drcongo?
Yep
This is fairly depressing. Robots. https://twitter.com/Arsenal/status/1647577831516565506?t=Y5Py9XoumMzTeiDI-zgWKQ&s=19

Very disappointing.
Awful lack of interaction between the players and the mascot and reading the comments reminded me why I stay away from twitter .

Oh, it's 1-1 now
Bet the Couhigs are feeling smug about not buying Yeovil after all given their rapid downward trajectory through the pyramid
Who knows how they would have performed with the benefit of fireworks, though?
Leyton Orient find out they're promoted during a floodlight failure in their game at Gillingham https://twitter.com/MJPhippsy/status/1648429168168943616?t=JOCUxUYc-IZmysSYxHK0Gw&s=19
Brilliant scenes!
