I think the last 5-1 over Crewe in 2016 was the last time we scored five in a league game, strangely, given how many games we have deserved to hammer someone in the intervening five years. I could be wrong, but I can't think of a more recent one?

I certainly hope you are right!

I think it was - and the only time since then we've scored five in any competition was v Chesterfield in the FA Cup?

  • @Shev indeed it was.... the game we nearly scored 6 in!!

  • It's definitely about time! If there was ever a season to put up a couple of big numbers...

As good as it was to beat a team from a higher league so convincingly, that game was almost dull in its lack of drama. I could never be a Man City fan.

In fairness, they did get to enjoy the most dramatic moment in Premier League history.

Bold claim to call Ji Dong-Won’s last minute winner for Sunderland on NYD 2012 the most dramatic in PL history, but it was dramatic (especially when you live in a house full of Sunderland fans).

Did you really find that game at Chesterfield “dull?”

I still remember the sheer pleasure of watching us destroy a team a league above us with style.

The last quarter of the game I admit lacked an element of jeopardy but even so, it was a pleasure to be there to watch us that day.

(I do concede that I have the mentality that us being 3 goals up with 3 minutes left only guarantees that we won’t lose so I may have higher levels of discomfort and nervousness than most)

And if you were around for our last ever (hopefully!!) isthmian league campaign when we basically thrashed most teams week in week out I don’t remember any of that being dull.

But I also imagine I would get bored of it if it was season after season

    Sheff Wed v Lincoln 2 - 0

Each game is progressively better for the home side.

I genuinely did. As enjoyable as it was, it lacked any kind of tension.

I'd be very happy with a dull 4 or 5 nil win today

  • So everyone apart from @Shev has predicted us to score at least three goals today. Where's your optimism, mate?!
