Vaccination/negative test admission to games

edited August 2021 in Football

I noticed this on the MK Dons site about their game at Ipswich.
Wonder how many clubs are working to this? And whether they're policing it as strongly as this is worded.

"Lateral Flow Test/Vaccination History
All supporters visiting Portman Road on Saturday will be asked for proof of a Negative Lateral Flow Test result taken or proof of a double vaccination. If there is no proof of either, then no admission will be granted.

Lateral Flow Test
A test must have been reported and can be demonstrated via text message or email via NHS Test and Trace. The test needs to be taken within 48 hours of the time the stadium gates open at 1.30pm.

Vaccination History
Supporters can also provide proof that they have received both doses of the vaccine at least 14 days prior to the match This can be documented by the NHS app or via the Scottish or Welsh vaccination record services. ITFC will also accept the NHS Vaccine card issued at the point of first vaccination."

  • That’s a worry for international fans who have been vaccinated but don’t have an NHS, Scottish or Welsh record of it.

Not really just need to have lateral flow test

If they're being strict, they'd have to start checking IDs match up with test results too. Otherwise anyone could just print someone else's card/show someone's phone etc.

Sounds a lot of extra work for 1,000s of fans.

  • Anyone have any idea to what extent the various Covid / quarantine rules might have on any potential international call-ups? Clubs won't be wanting to lose players for up to two weeks or so.

Think there might be a government ruling on it in a few days.
As it stands any red flag countries could see players in the premier league miss a couple of games.
Potentially more at our level with more games packed in early season.

  • Might be a fw arguments coming about wether people are released to play in areas with high numbers and mandated quarantine.

Re: the original post of course this should be nothing new for Mk Dons fans who have already failed the character test

  • Isn't what Ipswich are doing, only required at stadiums holding 20,000 fans or more?

  • I went to see Spurs v Man City just over a week a back (a friend is a Spurs STH and one of his mates couldn't go). They made a big palaver about having to use the NHS app as proof of vaccination, and indeed there were posters all around the ground that you needed to do this.

Except they totally screwed up the admissions (maybe it was simply a shortage of staff, a few football clubs seem to have been hit by this on opening day) and no request was made whatsoever. Oh well.

So this is happening at Sunderland on Saturday?

Liverpool had to delay kick off to two of their friendlies, half hour for the first and 15 mins for the second despite reviewing and changing things. Watford like us didn't seem to do any checks at all at one of theirs.
Staff and supply shortages plus new checks / systems and people being out of practice seem to have caught out quite a few clubs
