Football & cricket on Sunday
Previously I posted about the Bucks v Northumberland Minor Counties Championship 3-day cricket match starting at the Meadow, Chesham this Sunday (22nd).
If anyone is interested there’s also an FA Cup Preliminary Round match on the adjacent football ground, k.o. 1pm. Aylesbury United (who groundshare with Chesham) are playing Brimscombe & Thrupp. Adults £9, concessions £6 & u-16s £1.
So if you fancy some cricket from 11am, interspersed with football at 1pm then cricket until 7pm here’s your chance. Parking at the Meadow may be tight so alternatively park in Amy Lane or Moor Road. The satnav address for the Meadow is HP5 1NE.

Cricket start delayed until a least midday, water under the covers.
Pitch inspection at 1:50 pm.
Delayed start to the cricket. Moved next door for the football. Half-time FA Cup Preliminary Rd Aylesbury United 3 Brimscombe & Thrupp 0. Visitors run ragged & outclassed. Could be 6. About 150 here.
FT AU 8-0 BT. The visitors had a 10 minute spell late on when they tested the keeper three times, one an excellent save pushed onto the post. Apart from that they were chasing shadows, unable to cope with the pace and movement of the Ducks, who look a very decent side.
Cricket is about to start. Bucks won the toss and elected to bat. It will be a late finish today.
I meant to say Bucks elected to field, which has turned out well, Northumberland are 27-3 off 9 overs.
Tea, Northumberland 69-8 off 27 overs.
Four wickets for Cameron Parsons. Very good bowling, drying wicket helpful.
Close, Northumberland all out for 139 off 46.1 overs.
A ninth wicket partnership of 62 frustrated Bucks, Matthew Oswell making a very good 57. Cameron Parsons finished on 4-43. A 10:30 start tomorrow.
Lunch, Bucks 94-3 off 37 overs. Slow going.
Assume it's not very easy going and that they'll be glad to grind out as much of a lead as possible? Or is the wicket a bit easier today now that it's drier?

Grind is the word @HCblue, wicket not easy to bat on and there was rain earlier this morning in Chesham. We are on the bank near pavilion, cold in the North wind!
Tea, Bucks 220-8 off 76 overs, 14 overs remaining in their innings. A lead of 81 so far, which is big in the context of this game.
Stephen Croft 30 no, Conner Haddow 20 no. A 7:30 finish tonight.
Connor Haddow is ex Wanderers star Paul Bates grandson.
Bucks all out for 235 off 79.3 overs, a lead of 96.
All the batsmen got in, except one, and Croft top scored on 32 no.
Matthew Scott took 6-54 off 17.3 for Northumberland.
Close, Northumberland 94-7 off 30 overs, still two behind.
Another excellent bowling display from seven different bowlers. Parsons leading with three so far. There was a bizarre runout which saw both batsmen at the same end.
It was good to meet @HCblue and see several other Chairboys and Chairgirls here today. 10:30 start tomorrow.

It was very good to meet you too, @Steve_Peart, as well as @A_Worboys - thank you for your company. And some good cricket by Bucks aided by clever use of strategic boundary walks.
Northumberland 178 all out off 63.2 overs. Dale Shaw as was left stranded on 91 not out off 172 balls, a really classy innings.
Bucks need 83 to win.
Bucks won by 10 wickets, 85-0 off 18.2 overs.
Michael Wells 55 no, his maiden half century for Bucks, and AJ Woodland 28 no.
Beds had already won the Eastern Division 2, and are promoted. Next season Bucks will be playing Herts, Northumberland, Cumbria, and either Cambs or Lincs depending on today's results.
Any idea why the divisions are split Eastern and Western rather than the more logical north/south divide?
I don't know @Croider, it split into East and West in 1983, from a single division. There must be a geographical logic, but I don't quite see it.
Bucks finished second, eight points behind Beds who, frustratingly, they drew with but should have beaten, which would have secured top spot. Cambs are the relegated team coming into East 2.
Risboro Rangers went out of the FA cup 3-2 at Ascot United, despite leading 2-0 at one stage.
Better news for Flack'all they thumped Tuffley Rovers 6-0 at their replay at Wilks Park.
