Hercules the horse.

When my dad used to take me to Loakes Park, many, many moons ago, he would tell me about Hercules the horse. Apparently he was allowed to wonder around Loakes park and was used to pull the mower for the grass.
I never saw him myself, but I do remember seeing a hoofprint imbedded in the tarmac at the hospital end.
Does anybody know if there is any truth in this or was it lust an urban myth ?

    I do remember a horse at Loakes Park back in the early sixties . Can't remember the name though. Around the same time there was a greengrocer in Suffield Road who had a horse and cart for deliveries.
