Championship clubs to vote on reintroducing 5 sub rule
Would expect that to pass, makes sense given the ridiculous amount of muscle injuries so far and the crazy schedule coming up. And we've got decent depth now to make it count!

When we had five subs for the playoffs was this 5 from 7 or 5 from 9 ? I can't remember
5 from 9
Thanks. I suppose we don't extra seats in the new dugouts for two extra subs as they sit in the stands.
No wonder they aren’t letting fans back in. With social distancing the stand will be full of substitutes
But actually think for this season only it makes sense
Didn’t we extend the dug outs a few years ago? Or am I imagining (more) things?
Why do we care? ?
If this goes through then in a lot of games I can imagine we’d play a high pressing front 5 for an hour and then change all of them between 60-70 mins. Might work in our favour if we can use it to keep up a high press over the full 90.
Because if we have 9 subs next season where will they all sit?
SIT? They should be warming up!??
Maybe the nine subs could play 5 v 4 with a ball on the side line...
In fact a question...can subs warm up with a ball?__

Just had a look at the efl website, and yes you can, but it's strictly black tie only.
I think they’d be allowed to put it under their shirt, thereby lulling the opposition into thinking they might not be fully fit. Probably not appropriate in the women’s game.
4v4 with one Goal / Goalie? Jumpers for goalposts, marvelous
Plenty of room, too, with our deeply inset touchlines.
Looks like it's happening https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/11/17/exclusive-championship-clubs-allowed-five-substitutes-late-november/
Now confirmed by the EFL, active from Saturday
Link here, active from Friday nights game between Coventry and Birmingham.

No word, but I'm assuming it's five subs from three slots as before.
Another mark of how far we've come though - from only being able to name five subs for our first game back in L1, to being able to name a matchday squad of 20 and still have eight players left over (with three more out on loan!).
Every time this debate comes up it reminds me of this:
The 1980–81 season was Aston Villa's 81st in the Football League and their sixth consecutive season in the top division. They finished as league champions for the seventh time in their history, using just 14 players (including ex-Wycombe Kenny Swain) over the course of the campaign, of whom no fewer than seven were ever-present.
I’m getting far too old
We made this work quite well in the playoffs and does mean we could give certain players license to run themselves to oblivion for 60 and bring on someone else to do the same for 30.
Also get more game time into our now wider range of options.
I was against it carrying on at first, but having seen the amount of muscle injuries this season it's a no-brainer. And we actually have the depth to take advantage of it now.
The opposition have the same opportunity of course but perhaps our, let’s say, “approach” might make it more productive for us?
The games we get 1-0 ahead in, it'll be a huge use to have these extra subs to bring a hard worker on to shut out the game.
I initially thought this was bad for us as all other squads have greater 'strength in depth' but it is a good point about the way we play. Fresh legs for the press, as the nun said to the bishop
Thought she’d kicked the habit.
Has anyone asked Posh if that's ok?
