RIP Big Jack, legend and proper character.
Nicknamed The Giraffe due to his long neck. In an era of more rigid football tactics became one of the first centre halves to come up for corners and scored quite a few goals as a result. He also loved country persuits ,hunting shooting fishing
RIP
He certainly was. I once introduced him at a WWFC dinner and warned him to be careful with his language as there were ladies present. His opening line to the audience was: ‘If you don’t like swearing, you’d better fuck off now’!
He was so gracious and magnanimous to Wycombe after the 70's Cup game.People like Derek Adams, Roy McDonough et al could have learnt something.
Hear, hear to that. Jack was a top bloke.
Having to wade through a lot of archive at the moment and my favourite is an interview with the Charlton brothers after the 1966 semi-final with Bobby all calm, collected and conservative with his views and Jack saying 'We'll win it...!'
