Jack Leslie
It’s not often that I give Plymouth Argyle credit but here is a story that puts them in good light and deserves to be wider known.
Jack Leslie played for Argyle for over a decade in the 20s and 30s.One season he was called up by England. Shamefully that invitation was withdrawn when the authorities realised that he had black skin. No black player would play for the national side for another fifty years.
Today it was announced that after a campaign supported by the club that a square in the city previously named after an historic slave dealer would be renamed Jack Leslie Square.
Well done all. We are getting there, slowly perhaps but getting there.

That's great news.
Thanks for sharing @DevC , some good news was just what the doctor ordered
Excellent news
A fascinating and at the same terrible story. It's wonderful that the wrong is being partially righted
Delighted to see that the Jack Leslie story is now getting the national coverage it deserves. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53184615.
Career ended by eye injury caused by ball's laces. How times change!
It was on the Today programme this morning as well @DevC
