FGR new stadium plans approved
Forest Green Rovers have been given approval to build a wooden stadium. Seems utterly stupid to me, i'm to young to remember the Bradford fire but have been told/read about it.
Thoughts ?

Wooden?!? Sheash.
Although at least you can't smoke inside grounds these days
It looks amazing, but I too was surprised you can get planning permission for a wooden football stadium these days.
Ah
Fair enough i guess technology has come on along way.
Yes, I feel sure that wood (and it's offshoots) in construction/fire safety things have moved on massively.
If Forest Green ever play Nottingham Forest in a stadium made of wood, all will somehow seem right in the world.
"the answer is to plant more trees"
And it used to lie in the soil @our_frank !
(Apologies if you’re too young for that one.)
Something that every football fan knows
I would be just as concerned because it's bloody miles away from Nailsworth! Green my arse. Car park for 1700 cars. Living on dreams
It's only about 8 miles from their current ground.
Barnet moving to the Hive, Canons Park is only 8 miles away but has been totally successful at losing most of their support. They put on a bus service from Barnet town centre but have recently discontinued it. Neither do they run any supporters coaches to away games.
8 miles is a massive distance to move a club. Very risky
There is a world of difference between moving eight miles across a large city and moving eight miles across Gloucestershire countryside.
Potential Rushden situation without doubt but not I suggest because of location.
