Robin Friday
I've recently heard of this guy, an amateur folk hero it would seem. There is a documentary being made about him.
I just wondered if any Wycombe fans from the 70s remember him at all seeing as he played for Enfield, Hayes and Reading?

Remember seeing him play for Reading against us in the FA Cup in 1976.
How good was he that day? Could he have played for England from what you saw?
@wildwest 100% Nutter, but a real Character. Stood out in the 76/77 2nd rd FAC match at Loakes park against us, scored both goals in the win. I have the book written about him from about 15 years ago. have a read of this and the pictures tell there own story.

If my memory is correct I saw him play for Hayes v Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup 1st Round in 1973-74. Hayes won 1-0 with a goal by Bobby Hatt, who went on to be an upholsterer in Camberley. In the 2nd Round Hayes drew 0-0 at Reading. They lost the replay 2-1 at Hayes but I seem to remember Reading signing him on his performances against them. He later went on to play for Cardiff City. A player very much in the Rodney Marsh, Stan Bowles mode - and probably just as good. A real character and a true talent.
A flawed genius, there is an academic paper out there somewhere: 'Robin Friday the greatest player you have never heard of' try Google Skolar, there is also some grainy footage on You Tube I think of him at Reading, amazing skill but totally uncontrolable: drink, drugs, gambling, no training BUT he was a maverick as good as George Best, just not as disciplined!!!!! Drugs and drink got him in the end.
