Like most places, it depends where you are from. St Anns, The meadows and Clifton have been rough areas for a long time. Remember another Nottingham alumni Jermaine Pennant pissed up and crashing Ashley Coles car at the Aylesbury Swimming baths? He came from a very rough background. I think the city was the murder capitol of the UK at one point.
On the bright side I believe the city centre is still the biggest concentration of licensed premises in Europe. (Or the World. Or Something) So you know, swings and roundabouts.

Was a tongue in cheek comment, Nottingham is one of my favourite cities for a night out in.
