Wonder if old foe Ken McKenna would go with him or be a candidate to take over.
checking his wiki page suggests he is 69. Surely that can’t be right?
Well Wikipedia also says Martin O'Neill is 67 and next year he'll have been gone 25 years and it'll be 30 since he arrived.

More like 59, No way was Cuddly Ken 43 when he played for Runcorn against us at Wembley.
Just when the Gaz love couldn't get any higher, with the 7 years up, turning down every job under the sun, and getting us joint top on points, then he moves up to longest serving manager.
Doesn't happen very often that you resign when rock bottom of the league to take over another job !!
But it speaks volumes of the job Bentley has done at Morecambe under very difficult circumstances.
Doesn't happen often that a Football League manager resigns to take on a job with a club fighting relegation from the conference. rather sad really but I suppose money talks.

I'd love to see Kevin Ellison go into management.
Worth it just to be able to stand behind the dugouts and hear him plotting how best to wind up the opposition. Great panto villain in the best kind of way.

Not a bad move for him, assuming Fylde still have a bit of money.

Kevin Ellison has got to get the job.
Cue nervous days of speculation over whether they're going to go after Ainsworth
Don't go Gaz

Ainsworth on his way

Incredible scenes.
He was never offered the Sunderland job so thats bollocks
Good morning @rmjlondon, nice of you to bring down the weekend high to Monday morning level.
Put him on ignore. Job's a goodun.
Welcome back @rmjlondon. Did you have a nice half term break?
That's genuinely made me smile. What a ray of sunshine on a Monday morning.
Bentley has resigned at Morecambe

The Football League paper wrote yesterday that Gareth had turned down a two year deal at Sunderland. If it’s in the papers it must be true eh??
@rmjlondon you ok hun?

Ellison does instantly come to mind.
And perfect timing for him, being 40 now.
Another prediction from the Nostradamus of Football fan forums.
that's!
So the new top ten is:
Gaz
Eddie Howe
Sean Dyche
Mauricio Pochettino
John Coleman
Jürgen Klopp
Nigel Clough
Lee Johnson
John McGreal
Mark Cooper
Only the top five have been in their jobs for five years or more. Also two ex-Wycombe players in there ?
Bearing in mind the wealth in the Premier League, it seems surprising that 4 of the top 6 longest serving managers are in that league.
Amazing that being in post since 2016 is enough to get you in the top 10.
Over 90% of EFL managers have been in post for less than three years. Madness.
Be nice. (See separate dyslexia thread). It may not be Richie’s fault
With Ken McKenna as assistant? Dream team...
McKenna has gone with Jim Bentley !
