Could be the club is confident that he will stay so are not worried about him talking to other teams. Be shame if he walks after assembling such a decent squad...but as others have pointed out if he does the next manager will inherit a decent squad!

Isn't it our club "philosophy" to not stand in the way of players or staff if they want to move on?
The idea being that good young players are more willing to come and prove themselves with us, as they know we will let them move upwards if they succeed and attract interest from higher up.
Not really. Rather an odd expression suggesting the result of deliberations although in the present situation, to be fair, there probably was a need to review the established policy of not standing in the way of a player who wants to leave or a manager who wants, if nothing else, to have talks with another club.
They're the one I'd worry about most, although I'm still not sure he'd go there. Big budget compared to ours - and still would be even if we get the investment, surely - but small in Championship terms. I get the feeling he's a bit fed up with operating on a shoestring.
Not sure what you base that on @chairboyscentral. I’ve always thought he enjoys having a small squad (mid twenties, say) - though not so small that he sometimes cannot fill the bench, of course - partly because he loves a challenge and succeeding against the odds and partly because it is much easier to generate the spirit and togetherness for which his squads are renowned. In any case, provided the Couhigs get their 75%, he now has the prospect of a budget slightly above shoestring levels (whatever that may be).
Who don’t the Millwall fans hate @eric_plant ! And if there’s any truth in reports on here a few months ago about the abuse Fred had to suffer, not just from fans and despite what he says about GA being one of the main reasons why he wanted to come here, there’s no way he’d go back there. The culture ain’t gonna change in a hurry.
Its precisely that "culture" that makes it hard to see GA at Millwall. Just doesn't seem a fit to me.
Personally if he misses out at Sunderland, even if he feels now is the time to go, I'd prefer him to wait for a better role to come along (Stoke and Portsmouth surely will be up for grabs any day now). Trouble is I suppose bird in the hand ....
Anyway odds seem to suggest that Rowett or possibly Cahill may be more likely.
Millwall feels the least risk of the three clubs mentioned so far.
But we have no real insight into what Gaz is thinking, above his very obvious media soundbites of wanting to manage at a higher level...
He'll surely be gutted if the vote is a no, just after all the jobs have gone.
Millwall fans are complaining that he was dirty player who put one of theirs in hospital. Millwall fans. I daresay he would not be a popular appointment.

Not a sacking this one. And old news.
@Malone I know just got caught up in the moment
Almost got me for a moment!

Can you be both determined and reluctant I wonder?
You can be determined to be reluctant.
“Determined not to stand in his way” sounds almost as if they are keen for it to happen!

Totally agree @Username. It was the word “determined” that seemed a trifle uncalled for !
I suspect it is trying to say that the club "have determined not to stand in his way". That works, right?

If he went to Millwall, maybe players with skills like Fred and Jason McCarthy would develop, instead of polishing the bench with their bums...
Ooh https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11735/11835547/millwall-approach-wycombe-over-hiring-manager-gareth-ainsworth
I reckon he'd turn them down
And rightly so
I'm not so sure, managing the club that have scored the most home league goals in a single season would tempt many managers.
A little phone call to his mate Ollie to see how he found life down there should be enough to do the trick
Plus, Millwall fans hate Gaz

@peterparrotface but Millwall fans are vermin - right?

Got to be parody, surely?
When someone has "renowned arsehole", in their tag, I would wager yes...
where do you keep trawling these obscure accounts up from!?
my goodness.......
@our_frank Just a minority spoiling it:
Reading their forum a little, a few of them are quoting Gaz's league finishes as being an average of midtable, and thus not great.
Surely even the most half witted of football fans can apply a modium more balance?
If Gaz has a look at fan forum reaction to the possibility of him taking over he would stay where he is wanted!
Millwall fans are complaining that he was dirty player who put one of theirs in hospital. Millwall fans. I daresay he would not be a popular appointment.
In terms of clubs with horrible reputations, he'd do quite well to beat Millwall!
