Joe Thompson's autobiography
If anyone is after a decent football read for Christmas, or looking for a book to buy for someone, I'd highly recommend `Darkess and Light' by Joe Thompson. He's reasonably well known now as the guy who came back from cancer - twice - to score the goal that kept Rochdale up last season, but his story is a great insight into life as a lower league player with all the obstacles it brings. Comes across as a very thoughtful intelligent guy and you just have to cheer him on after what he goes through, whatever your allegiances.
