Dorking Wanderers vs Lewes

I had a commitment in Dorking today so couldn’t make the Wycombe game but could just squeeze in a match at Dorking Wanderers new ground. Lewes largely outclassed Dorking by some way with few of the Dorking players catching the eye bar right winger Mathew Briggs who regularly showed good pace and skill. Lewes has a few stand out players though, in particular their number 8, Michael Dome-Benwin, who looked like Ngolo Kante playing in non-league. Fantastic tackler who calmly mopped up and picked up every lose ball despite the vast majority of Lewes passes going straight over his head. Definitely looked like a league player and I wouldn’t be unhappy to see him in Wycombe shirt at all.

This was also the first match I’ve ever seen on a 3G pitch. It didn’t affect the bounce or run of the ball anywhere near as much as I expected.

The facilities at Dorking’s new geound are excellent, well worth a visit for groundhoppers.
