The real league table, 2017/2018
I post this most years, ripped off from another general football forum.
Basically it gives teams' positions at present in the promotion race, against predicted targets for promotion, and what the points totals required for autos, playoffs etc were in previous years.
The current season targets are obviously moving ones based on teams' results and the number of points available. So for example if all promotion candidates lost in a given week, then the predicted points required would come down.
Figures in brackets are number of games played per team.
Only 3 more wins required for an auto spot sounds pretty tempting though.

77 points for automatic promotion in 2013 & 2014. Blimey.
I think three wins will definitely be good enough for promotion. The fact our goal difference is significantly better than Exeter's also helps. But please God that it doesn't come to that!
There are a lot more twists to come yet! Here are the matches yet to be played where both clubs are on 60+ points. In each match at least one of the clubs must drop points.
Colchester United v Accrington Stanley
Notts County v Coventry City
Swindon Town v Carlisle United
Accrington Stanley v Exeter City
Colchester United v Notts County
Lincoln City v Wycombe Wanderers
Carlisle United v Luton Town
Lincoln City v Colchester United
Wycombe Wanderers v Accrington Stanley
Coventry City v Lincoln City
Accrington Stanley v Lincoln City
Colchester United v Swindon Town
Exeter City v Colchester United
Notts County v Luton Town
Swindon Town v Accrington Stanley
Oddly Mansfield Town do not feature in any of these matches, Accrington feature in five.
Ideally we need to avoid defeat against Accrington and hope they win their other 4 games.
Col U. could have a big influence on the promotion/playoff race. They also feature in five of the matches.
Accrington (H)
Notts County (H)
Lincoln (A)
Swindon (H)
Exeter (A)
I might almost be happy to see them make the playoffs.
Although it's tighter for us perhaps I think pressure is on luton all the way. Accrington just want promotion whereas dropping into the playoffs will worry the hatters more perhaps than it does us.
I think the C*lU element has been raised elsewhere but it certainly is a conundrum...
